Really strong opening cases, haven't played the rest yet

So SO good, must play if you like solving mysteries.

This is a great visual novel that is not particularly challenging with a few intricate and interesting twists. Other reviews are right, there are indeed some loose threads which can be further elaborated to make up for more depth for the stories, which some would say there is a lot of wasted potential, especially with the introduction of that many characters across chapters who seem to be tied with the protagonist in some sense ('mother', 'criminal mastermind', 'childhood friend in the harbor town', etc.). This is indeed something that could have been worked on but probably overlooked. I would call it a filler problem, as some characters seem to exist just to exist, same for some other witnesses.

At least I do not see any loopholes in it. I see a huge potential based on the background laid out by the writing and the development of the story, from the fundamentals to the end of the story as of the current patch. I will be thrilled to see the possibility for a sequel, or in the long run, a series based on the world built upon the settings. Maybe not even just for the mystery / ace-attorney genre, but a combination of genres!

About the content - I will just put it plainly to avoid any spoilers. Chapter 1-3 are pretty straightforward, of course, interestingly and engagingly straightforward. Chapter 4 was a thrilling experience that made very good use of the settings of the world, where magic and various levels of spells are concerned. The end of chapter 4 is peak in questioning the very foundations of many of the settings in the game and the protagonists' motives, which gradually led to some more reflections for the protagonist in chapter 5.

If I am to make any complaint, it will be on chapter 5. It felt a bit rushed given a character just died within minutes from introduction, and a seemingly prominent figure only emerged as a witness that did not even stand in the court. There is the filler problem that I mentioned - I felt like the two characters were just fillers for a case to proceed. There were also many unnecessary 'evidences' and 'spells' which did not really serve a purpose in my playthrough. They may be distractions, which is understandable - or embellishment, to help illustrate the characters, especially the spells in illustrating the power of certain characters, that I can also understand. But in the actual gameplay they may appear to be obviously irrelevant in the court and just plain nuisance.

Artstyle is impeccable, I love it. While the UI can use a bit more polishing (especially the main menu and the settings panel), It is far beyond merely serviceable.
