If you thought Ace Attorney had excellent music, wonderful character development, impeccable pacing, engaging case structure, and coherent, satisfying investigation/cross-examination segments... this game will make you forget all about Ace Attorney.

My only major qualm with this game is that there isn't enough of it; I don't just mean that in the cliché "that's how good it is" sense--I do actually feel like this game's length does not do justice to how deep its already rich plot and character development could have been. Some of the pacing (despite my earlier compliment) is a little too tight for my liking and I'd like the plot beats spread out a little more. Specifically, a nightmare sequence in the very first case occurs lines before what the reader would be forgiven for mistaking as implied offscreen sex, but which just ends up having been awkward intimacy . And that's just one example, there's tons of little things like this that accidentally break tension or distract the player. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I feel like this game could use a Turnabout Big Top, just to give the arcs a little room to spread out and breathe rather than overwhelming the player.

There are several nitpicks as well:
- The game doesn't run super well on Linux. There's screen tearing at times there shouldn't be .
- Some of the dialogue is missable, and unless you're a regular saver, there's no way for you to conveniently reread it if you happen to sneeze at a bad time. (It doesn't show up in the text log either.)
- There could have been so much more dialogue for presenting irrelevant evidence during investigations (though I will note here that there was far more attention given to wrong-answer dialogue. I managed to get the game to question my sanity by answering obviously ludicrously in one of the later ad-lib multiple-choice segments. I was genuinely impressed by that.) Note that I kinda gave up doing the Ace Attorney "present everything" shtick around case 3, after seeing it not work super well up to that point, so my word on cases 4 and 5's optional dialogue is unreliable.

This game is a flawless masterpiece and I love it to bits. The characters are brilliant, the story is engaging, the setting is fresh for this genre and most importantly, the gameplay is peerless and the logic is rewarding. I can't wait to play anything else these guys make, especially if it's Tyrion Cuthbert: Attorney of the Arcane II: Horus Boogaloo.

This game exceeded my expectations. As a fan of the Ace Attorney series, I wanted to try something in the same genre, and I really enjoyed this one. You can definitely tell it’s inspired by AA, but it has its own charm. The world has a cool mix of fantasy, with magic playing a part in the murder mysteries. Despite the magical elements, everything still follows a set of rules and logic that make solving the mysteries feel satisfying. The writing is really well done, with the narration pacing the plot reveals perfectly. The early cases are pretty easy to figure out, but the difficulty ramps up later, especially in cases 4 and 5, which completely blew my mind.

If you like the Ace Attorney series, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this game too. As a fan-made game, it’s really well done, and I definitely recommend giving it a try.

What Apollo Justice should've been,
While Tyrion Cuthbert blurs the line between hommage and copy, its original ideas and opitimizations of the core gameplay of the original Ace Attorney Trilogy makes this game an absolute game changer of a Visual Novel.

The magical elements are innovative pieces of evidence, and their investigation is made to be very simple, the difficulty slope is gradual, and you build up knowledge of the lore in a great way. But there is quite a bit of linearity, due to the game lacking any way of punishing you effectively if you take wrong decisions. That being said, the cases, especially the later ones, truly shine no only in the ammount of twists they have, but how unexpected they are.

Sure, some characters are evidently evil, but the game structurly builds up reveals in a way that allows you to be entertained, with a focus on the HOW rather than the WHO behind a crime -- This was a substantial issue in the original AAT.

The worldbuilding is fine, though at times the technicalities of some terms are simply not introduced to us properly, that being said the evidence page serves as a codex that allows us to peer into deeper elements of the game in a rather complete way.

The story itself, of course, could be criticized in many ways, but the game allows itself to surprize you. The killing of nobles is seen as nothing more but a direct consequence of the internal politics of the kingdom, and while reform might be needed in it, there is no concrete change in its structure. This is put in question by many people, including highest members of the nobility, but the nobility -- while derogatory at times with the commonfolk -- do not seem to hold much more power and influence than a well connected bourgeois might.

Either way, great game, play it
