bug?? can't launch game at all

I just got the game today and every time I try to launch the game I get "Fatal Error: Failed to load mono". Is there any fix to this?

Hello Lacy, that error usually means something went wrong with the installation.
Could you try this, please?

- Right-click on the game in your Steam Library
- Go to "Properties"
- Go to "Local Files"
- Press on "Verify Integrity of Game Files"

If this doesn't work, please let me know what's your Windows version, so we can investigate further.

Hi, I tried that plus reinstalling the game and it still gives me that error. I'm using Win 10

Looks like something is preventing Steam to install the mono.dll file. Could you make sure your antivirus isn't blocking it, please? Sometimes it's detected as a false positive, but it's an essential file on games made in the Unity engine, like this one.

Usually the antivirus won't let the game download if it detects a false positive (and there's usually a pop up). However, I did try disabling it and reinstalling it as well as verifying the files and it still gives me that error.

This is so weird. I'm getting out of ideas.
There's one last thing to try I got from another developer. Let me know if it works:

"The problem appears to be gone for the vast majority of players but there are still some for whom Steam's auto install does not work. It seems to be caused by broken VC Redist installation. We cannot do anything about it because it is a Windows system component, but there are two things you can do to fix it:

1. Either manually install the redist by downloading Microsoft Visual C++ Redist 2015-2019 from here:

It's the "vc_redist.x64.exe" in the Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 section.

2. Or if it is already installed, repair it by following these steps:
- Go to "Add or remove programs".
- Click "Modify" on "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2019 (x64)".
- Click "Repair".

Okay I tried that and it didn't work for me ): I'm really disappointed because I was really interested in playing this game >.< I'll have to refund it for now ): Thank you for trying to fix the problem though!
