I Wani Hug that Gator! is a quintessential love story about coming of age at school, but it's handled with such authenticity that it feels impactful and fresh. Addressing the dinosaur in the room, the anthropomorphic prehistoric animals look appealing and successfully portray an alien yet familiar race that you, as well as the main character, ultimately grow accustomed to. Thanks to the creative dialogue, art and music, at no point have I been bored. Knowing that your choices have consequences makes the story immersive and meaningful.

Unfortunately, it has a number of typos and sloppy grammatical errors. It's enough to criticize and expect more from a game this good, but it doesn't actually detract from the experience. The game also has a penchant for using memes and references in its script and art, and it's pretty humorous, but also a tiny bit distracting.

Let's talk about a few of the best parts of I Wani Hug that Gator! that set it apart. To punctuate certain scenes, some very cool animations play with plenty of motion, making the characters really come alive when you're least expecting it. The art is a little amateurish but stylish, and excellently fits the vibe. You're never gonna forget these scenes. Something else I really appreciated is, again, how authentic the story beats are. It doesn't feel obligatory when the game reminds you what it's like to be a young adult struggling with all sorts of issues.

I Wani Hug that Gator! is one of those games you will regret finishing simply because it's over; I'm actually trying to play it slowly for this reason. It has four unique endings, but let's be real, I'm getting the best one and uninstalling, lol. Best of all, it made me feel extremely thankful for my current relationship, and when a video game affects your real life this much, that's when you know it's great.

Excellence! Not at all a pale imitation of Banjo-Kazooie-era platformers. Looks and plays FUN with its own twist, including many unique mechanics, stimulating levels, and zero 3D platforming jank. Feels great in your hands with a modern controller, too.

Many areas and objectives are inaccessible at first, so a major challenge of the game can be figuring out what to do. It's a bit hard to chew on at first, but it pays off in the end. Such a memorable soundtrack with strong, poignant melodies.

This was a game I chose to not sleep on, and it was a great choice. Satisfying with plenty of hidden secrets, and also a very challenging postgame! One of the best 3D platformers I've ever played, and by the way, its characters are adorable. Buy Corn Kidz 64!
