This has made my games so much better. Just the capturing frames helps performance become so much more smoother.

Games that have improved performance:
- Space Marine 2 (smoother frame rate)

My system is actually below minimum requirements. CPU doesn't meet it but everything else does. Have everything on
High at an average of 45-55fps depending on the map BUT because of frame capturing (I have scaling off) gameplay is
so much more smoother.

- Vermintide 2 (no more sudden frame drops)

I've always struggled with Vermintide 2. I get headaches from playing due to the sudden fps drops. No matter how much I tweak in game settings it just drops every now and then. Probably a Ryzen7 1700x thing. The fps drops still happen with Lossless Scaling but not as often and not as huge of a drop. From 10-20 frame drops its reduced to 3-5 frame drops. Still noticeable but way better than before.

- Overwatch 2 (higher frames from 144 to 220)

Not as well produced as Baldur's Gate 3 but its a great step forward for WH40K. Lots of lore, LOTS of reading and world building. If you're a WH40k fan, this is definitely something you want on your list of GOATs.

Protect us, O Emperor,
from the snares of the heretic,
the mutant,
the xeno,
and the warpspawn.

In you we place all our faith.
In you we find refuge.
In you we find our avenger.
Lead us forth into the legions of humanity's foes
with thy spirit
and give us the courage and capability
to slay the foes in every battle
we are compelled to fight,
though they last until the end of time

The Warhammer 40K franchise has pushed out a lot of games and with recent releases, they have been getting better. A lot of them still have some short comings but there are a few that have managed to minimise these. This one is one of those.

Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is a turn based tactical strategy game with roguelike aspects. Many players have complained about the difficulty and tediousness of the game but I feel like it’s because of the way the game was marketed - as a turn based tactical strategy game. Once you recognise that the game is actually part roguelike, your approach changes. You care less about your units because when they die you can replace them and consume the decommissioned unit to either instantly respec a unit or add skill points to the unit. Your units can also randomly generate bonus stats whenever they recover from a critical status.

The build diversity for your kill team is vast. There are a total of 8 base classes, half of which are locked behind game progression and two more(one is situational) come in the Duty Eternal dlc. You can play with any combination of classes and still progress nicely. I’ve run an all apothecary(support) team and built them in your traditional tank-support-dps composition using the skill tree and itemisations. That being said, having a support class that heals isn’t necessary to get through the game but it does help if you really suck at the game. The point being, any build that works for you and your play style will work.

The game is difficult by design. You aren’t supposed to come out of a Severe rated mission unscathed unless you’re doing it for bragging rights. Heck, even Low rated missions can become quite difficult if you mess up a few things but that’s by design. The game is a roguelike by design and it gets progressively easier as you lose more units or as they recover from wounds with new augments to their stats.

The storyline and storytelling is really good. People will complain about how immature some of the characters are and that the bickering gets tiresome and I agree but I think that’s just good story telling and good character development. When you have two characters who greatly disagree with each other, you’re bound to get some bickering and immaturity but you can clearly see how they’re growing and evolving their relationship. The overall tone of the game is a lot less grim and dark compared to the books and they don’t really explain the background of the Grey Knights but except for the fact that they are basically the Suicide Squad or Mission Impossible versions of the 40K universe but people familiar with the lore of the Grey Knights still greatly appreciate the story, design and gameplay. The game really encapsulates the tediousness and difficulty of the line of work the Grey Knights have to endure.

Lastly, its a very addictive game despite its tediousness. A single mission can take up to 30 minutes of play especially if you’re trying to accomplish some side goals or simply because you messed up a few times and were inefficient in your approach but afterwards, I always find myself deciding if I should call it a night or do just one more mission. If you don’t pace yourself, you may find yourself accumulating some gaming fatigue or burn out. Take a break, play something else. Gaming fatigue can occur with any game genre but its more noticeable in strategy games due to the nature of gameplay: long, difficult battles with very slow/delayed story progression. If you don’t have the time or patience for games like this, you’re probably better off buying something like Vermintide or Darktide that is fast paced and action packed.

This game, however, is a gem. Getting to play Space Marines with Darth Vader’s voice and voice lines is the icing on top.
