This demo demonstrates 2 things very well.

1. Alkimia can do a proper Gothic Remake. Sure this is just a small slice, but the potiential is there.
2. The game shouldn't release this year. The performance is extremely bad. A lot of the gameplay elements are super jank and need a lot of polish. The german text for nearly anything in the UI is pretty bad.

As a teaser of what GothicRemake might be it gives me hope, as a general tech demo it makes me fear that is will be basically unplayable.

---

"Bad" stuff:
* Vignette that can't be removed.
* Camera speed can't be configured.
* Camera zooms extremely close in dialogue, but the faces aren't that good and the camera whips around all the time. More annoying than cinematic.
* The dialogue camera is also constantly swaying as if held by someone who is constantly a little drunk.
* Enemy AI is extremely bad.
* Some sound effects loop too much.
* Interactions aren't uniform. "Taking everything" from enemies closes the inventory UI, but taking everything from a chest doesn't close the UI. And the popup that shows what you took is then behind the chest UI.
* Many interactions cannot be cancelled, which pairs annoyingly with the slow and drawn out animations.

The games camera is locked to 60fps so only when standing still does this game look smooth. As soon as you move the camera, while also having more than 60fps it looks and feels awful.
Unplayable for me.

A chill and beautiful experience.

+ Solid + simple controls
+ Beautiful visuals
+ Good performance ( highest settings 1080p is much more than 60 fps on the SteamDeck )

° The soundtrack is, for me, a mixed bag. Overall very soothing and chill, but some tracks are too monotone and some have elements that feel sharp and grating. Good variety from area to area. Good vibes overall.

° The "puzzles" caught me off guard.
They fit into the game and the game seems to be designed around being replayed (so you aren't expected to solve everything right away).
But it still. The puzzles sometimes felt like they "jumped" me. (Why tell me I missed some fishes when I wasn't even trying to gather fishes?)
And for some puzzles I was not sure if I was missing the ability to complete them, or the knowledge to solve them.

Naiad captured me with its first trailer years ago and the wait has been fully worth it.
The small edges that I mentioned are not enough to sour the experience and are a wonderful reminder that this is a work of art created by humans.
I can see the love, thought and care in every element of this game and I cherish it dearly.

What a wonderful experience to be had.

I love this game.

Read the name of the game and be assured that it is not just a funny pun.
This game is grindy by design and designed well to be grindy.

The player camera only updates its position at 60Hz.
No matter how fast you PC is, this game will always feel stuttery.

There are few games I bother replaying and fewer still where I bother getting all achievements.
I have completed multiple runs of this game and even after getting the last achievement I still want to play more of it.
The world, music, writing, gameplay, design - all superb.

It's a great atmospheric game about navigating megastructures.

Fantastic game.
Sure it is kinda camp and jank, but it is full of love.
Great controls, a lot of customization and good soundtrack.
The missions are generic in their premise, but very fun to play.

Only negative point I would make is that the stamina system, which is perfect in combat scenarios, kind of ruins traversal. The player should have infinite stamina outside of combat.

Cool concept but very jank.

Basically unplayable on high DPi mice, since aiming, menus and movement are all controlled with the mouse, but aren't configurable on their own.
So you might have a mouse sensitivity that makes aiming feel good, but movement through the level will be horrible.
The dev also hasn't even responded to any bug reports in the last 3 months, so there is a pretty decent chance that nothing will be fixed.

The controls are somehow worse than EDF5 and many things related to movement feel worse.
The camera is much worse and blocks your reticle a lot of the time.
Unskippable and slow intro missions, dialogues and cutscenes.

EDF6 incorporates missions from EDF5, which isn't a big problem in concept. The problem is that they chose missions which have been critized by players for a long time and they haven't changed anything about these missions. They copy&pasted mission 13 which starts with by doing nothing for 3 minutes. Just cruel in a game where you are encourage to play each mission 4 to 12 times.

And, of course, the forced Epic Online Services that are only be necessary if I ever had the desire to play with other platforms, but I play Solo most of the time. And the rare times I play online is with my steam friends... So why does it install this invasive software and refuses to even start if it isn't running? And why do I have to connect/create an Epic Account for multiplayer???

---

TL;DR: A few improvements, a few things worse, and things that show that the devs don't care about the players.
