TL;DR : Yes this game is very similar to Forza Horizon 5, to the point I'd say it's FH5 with much fewer microtransactions, ACTUAL steering animations and a much, much better map which is worth the exploration, all of which leading to a great game totally worth checking out!

Actual review :
This game is my first experience with The Crew as a franchise, so I went in with no prior expectations whatsoever, and it got me hooked from the get-go!
The Hawaii map is really gorgeous from the lush tropical beachside to the cities and highways and everything in-between!
The soundtracks are really cool and come in different variations to match the vibes of any race or free-roam cruise you are experiencing.
The graphics and animations are nice, nothing breathtaking but also nothing short of great, and I'm surprised to see how many small details are here and there from your avatar resting their arm while cruising in interior camera to the handling animations while riding a bike, and speaking of handling, vehicles are much smoother to handle & drive than I've expected, it's still no FH5, but it's serviceable and gets the job done.
The multiplayer experience has been smooth so far as well with no server issues and a quick matchmaking (Grand races are sooooo fun!!) and as for PVE, you have summit which is your weekly leaderboard playlist which is fun but nothing special, and then you have my favorite part which is the many playlists you have in the game. So far I've only finished Made In Japan, and it was a really rewarding blast, and upon finishing any playlist you get to unlock challenges for that specific playlist as well, which adds more replayability and offers more awards.
You also have a much better sense of progression in this game compared to many modern racing games as the game offers a rather mediocre car at the beginning, and you have to grind your way to getting more cars and other vehicles which are also required to open some playlists.
As of writing this review, there are +700 vehicles in the game and only two of them are locked behind an actual paywall , all the rest are available to obtain using the in-game currency.
They are also adding a FREE map expansion later this year, and an OFFLINE MODE, both of which are the icing on the cake as for why this game is totally worth it, at least when it goes on sale.

And lastly, while I'm aware it's an Ubisoft game, and as we all know Ubisoft is a big NO for many gamers these days for many good reasons, looking at what Ivory Towers (the actual developers) have pulled off with this game makes me really hopeful for their future and I hope they get more love and attention with their future releases, and the current additions of offline mode to Crew 2 and Motorfest and the huge discounts they both got is a very big & important step in that direction.

It disappoints me that people are writing negative reviews for this expansion instead of the base game because of server issues and connection loses that appear in the game as a whole, and this expansion wasn't the first time these kinds of problems have happened.
The expansion itself is everything I hoped for and beyond, it offers easily the best narrative in any D2 campaign along with some good writing, amazing soundtracks and the beautiful locations of Traveler's Pale Heart, fingers crossed rest of the content in year 7 keep up nearly the same quality as what we have in our hands at the moment.

The new location and subclass are cool & fun but the story & narrative felt rushed especially after the second mission and we got like 30 seconds of actual important story cutscene and now have to wait a whole year to figure out the rest...

The characters are also annoying , especially Nimbus which is a whole freaking abomination of weird voice , bad voice acting and badly written dialogues.

Overall i feel like this DLC could be much better but oh well gotta grind the light out of it anyways!

I always avoid writing a review before at least beating a major part of the games , but for this one , no matter how good or bad the game itself is , this review will remain negative until Ubisoft stop being as anti-consumer as possible and add the most basic steam features such as "steam achievements" to their "steam releases" !
If i wanted to play it without them i'd already get your games on EGS/Ubisoft Store !

UPDATE : As of late 2024 Ubisoft has added achievements to many of their older AC/Farcry and other games so i had to change this review accordingly.

Watching the game you have put thousands of hours (and hundreds of bucks) into with so much passion dying out slowly but surely because of mismanagement must be one of the worst experience any "gamer" can endure in their lives.
As a part of this "interesting" community, I'm more than familiar with moments of "it's so over" and then a few months later
"we are so back", but unfortunately this time, this time the "it's so over" makes more sense than ever before.
Laying off near 25% of your company's staff in less than a year and cancelling multiple projects because of "budget limitations" right after your employees put so much effort into making one of the best possible expansions for your game and doing nothing but buying more exotic cars for your collection is nothing short of pathetic greed at its finest.

Pete Parsons, and everyone from the higher ups over at Bungie & Sony who have played a part in the company's miserable status quo should have the guts to take accountability and step down while they can, otherwise this game, or even worse this whole Bungie company we all love & hate so much will be nothing but some bitter-sweet memory before we even notice...

It already felt like selling this DLC for 40 bucks wasn't really justified compared to the amount of content it offers which are mostly cosmetics & weapons and even those mostly require hard grinds and are not instant unlocks , and now that they are giving it away for free on EGS after less than 9 months since it's original release on steam i feel like a clown for buying it at full price!
Average post Halo Reach greedy Bungie move.

Do you recommend this game?

☐ Yes

☐ No

☑️FLARK YE I DO!

At first,i have to mention the fact that i've never watched nor read any of the GOTG movies/comics, and totally went in blindly without any idea of how good or bad the overall concepts are.

Now to the review:
It's rare to see devs putting that much love and passion into their games thesedays, and instead fill them with tons of useless microtransactions and lame content to grab as much money as possible. But Marvel's GOTG is an exception that is filled with the love, effort and creativity of its developers!

The game is freaking cool! The moment I started it and heard the 80s banger in the main menu, I knew I were in for one hell of a ride.
Speaking of 80s bangers, the soundtracks of this game are just amazing! Both the chosen 80s-retro songs and the original STAR-LORD BAND soundtracks are fire! And also the emotional and sad soundtracks in certain situations…they all kicked the right spot at the right time!

The art design of the game is also really good, from the Star-Lord's journal to the design of the worlds and planets, and the beautiful graphics and effects really shine for the most parts!

Gameplay was fluent and smooth, and I liked the combat and the action, but it all just started to feel a bit…just a tiny bit repetitive, this is probably the only complaint I can have about the game.

The story is basically Persona 4 but in space, not that I'm complaining! You have to play both games to understand what I mean, but that's really all that is need to be said about how great the story was, and the character...man the characters are all SO likeable and i really feel empty now after finishing the game and leaving them…
The great voice acting and the enormous amount of dialogues which are mostly well written both for funny&funky and sad or serious situations along with awesome facial expressions really gives all the characters the personality they deserve, and you keep getting to know them and feel more connected to them more & more throughout the story.

There are also choices to make here and there and they are not too important like some choices-matter or role playing games, but you better try to make the best choices since they make some epic and awesome moments and kinda give you the "golden" ending.

All things said, now I really look forward to any possible sequels to this game, and sure keep my hopes up for it to be as good as this game was, if not even better! Thanks to every single one of the developers and anyone involved with this project to make it happen.

P.S : Cosmo remains the best boy!

"Outer Worlds is not the best choice! It's the spacers choice!"

After spending much more time than I expected into this game to fully finish the main game and both of its DLCs completely,i must say i really enjoyed it, at least for the most parts.

The game looks gorgeous! The rather retro-futuristic design of everything in this game really stands out and the gameplay is decent, such as running and walking animations, shooting, etc.

The dialogues and writing is good for the most part, but it sometimes falls short.
Specially since they flexed so hard on this game being the devs of the classic Fallout games and Fallout NV's next big game, well the absence of Chris Avellone's godlike writing is horribly clear throughout the whole game.

Soundtracks are decent, hit-and-miss IMO.

The RPG elements and perk system are as good as you'd expect from an open world action RPG, not too complicated like some hardcore RPGs but also not too simplified the game feel empty.

As for the story and plot of the game, i have to talk about the base game and its 2 DLCs separately.

First the base game :

The story is engaging enough for the most parts, and the plot is rather simple and does its best to show you the horrors of a world fully under the control of cruel corporations.
However, it is too short and leaves you like : Ok, that was it?! Even for me who spent actually much more time than the intended time to finish the game, the game felt lacking in the end. That's actually a reason I really look forward to the second game tho!
7/10

Now, The Peril on Gorgon : This DLC really feels like the pre Wastelanders update fallout 76, except for a few interactions with certain people, most of the story is told trough terminals, robots and audio tapes you find all around the map.
I REALLY liked the atmosphere and the overall feeling of Gorgon, and the main plot was interesting, but it has its own problems when it comes to the ending and the logic of many things happening throughout the story, i avoid going deeper into it to avoid spoilers.
7/10

And finally, the best piece of The Outer Worlds for me ,the Murder on Eridanos DLC!
This DLC is just awesome! The story is so interesting from the beginning, and it's filled with mind-blowing plot twists (at least for me)
The cast of characters you meet in this DLC are much more interesting than the rest of the game, and the choices you make feels much more satisfying and meaningful. I also love the sense of mystery that covers the whole DLC and how you as the inspector are the one to settle everything.
9/10

P.S : The game had more than its fair share of technical issues and game breaking bugs for me, one of them made a whole area of the game hostile despite not having any enemies around, so I wasn't able to finish a side quest since I couldn't interact with a terminal.
And the latter totally avoided me from continuing peril on gorgon from a certain point, I contacted Private Division's support regarding the issue, and they couldn't be any help, hence I had to make an entire new save only to finish that DLC.

To wrap this up, The Outer Worlds is a very good game, which could be great if it didn't fall short in some important areas, I keep my fingers crossed for the second game!
