Early Access Review
Melvor Idle is a Runescape-esque idle game that has some pretty incredible depth to it, making it a very enjoyable experience to play and idle.

These are the pros and cons:

Pros:

* This game has a cult following, including a Discord with 17,500 members, a Wiki (This will be appearing in Neutral), and other resources to make the game easier for you.
* This game has a polished look graphics-wise for what it is.
* This game has gameplay which is very rewarding when you play it right, and very enjoyable nonetheless.
* This game has a depth to it that not many other idle games have.
* The idling mechanics in this game are good for what they are. There is offline progress for (almost) every skill.
* For those that have played Runescape before, the learning curve for this game is pretty slick and enjoyable to learn.

Neutral:

* The Wiki, aforementioned above, has a lot of pages which are out-of-date.
* There is no music. For many, this would be a con, but I'm putting it into Neutral because I don't find it that big of a deal.
* Offline progress for Thieving requires 90% success rate in order to happen.
* This game has a steep learning curve for those that haven't played Runescape before.

Cons:

* The game can get very repetitive after a while.
* There are only a couple of things you can do in order to earn money in an efficient manner, and it takes a while to build up yours skills to the point where you can actually make money off of them.
* Lack of an in-game tutorial (this will be remedied soon)
* There is no FULL SCREEN :(

Overall, the game has achieved a cult following, with its' Discord containing over 17,500 members, which is a LOT for an indie game. Gameplay and graphics are good for what they are, and although there is a steep learning curve, if you have some experience playing Runescape, you'll be (mostly) good to go here.

This is worth the full asking price, but if you can get it on a slight discount (25% or greater), it'll be a slightly better deal.

I appreciate your detailed review! The community aspect sounds great, and I love that there's offline progress. Definitely considering it now!

The only other way I could have phrased that is that it was inspired by Runescape, and that's probably what I should have done, but now that this has been up for so long, I don't think it necessary to change the wording any longer.

RuneScape-esque might be a bit of an understatement

Thanks for clearing that up. I've removed those two cons from the list.

Regarding both the unbalanced experience and gold sell on items. There is the same intentional design choice through most skills that force you to choose between a more profitable/useful craft/gather/kill and one that optimises experience received. This creates a system that stays more interesting then: craft/gather/kill the highest level thing.

So magic logs may sell for 300 GP, but only generate 100 exp.

Redwood logs only sell for 25, but generate 180 exp.
