A lot of doubt was created when the first reveal trailers were released. A lot of the animations were weird looking, shooting felt like air-soft and the voice acting was mid at best.
Thank to the developers listening to their fans,a master piece was created that not only meets the harsh expectations of an already established master piece but manages to surpass them with ease.

Story

Silent Hill 2 originally released on PS2 nearly 23 years ago, marked its release with a mysterious story that set the undertone of a very complicated character called James Sunderland who is being called to a town called the Silent Hill. The reason? A letter he received from his dead wife who claims is waiting for him in their "special" place. This team managed to take the original story which was a 10/10 narrative that many movies like shutter island take their ideas from and manages to enhance it by placing extra cut scenes or dialogue that enriches the original story a ton and provides a hefty amount of background that was previously missing.

Gameplay

This is by far the best Silent Hill combat we have seen yet. They took the old and plain point and shoot gameplay and managed to modernise it without degrading the feeling of the original. New places of exploration are set, more ways that help take down enemies or even skip them. A lot of the game has been explanded, you can access more buildings, there is a stealth, every bullet feels like you are personally sending that mannequin or nurse to hell yourself.

Sound design

This is one of the factors giving the 10/10 to this game. Every single crack, wind blow, nurse howling. Everything is felt through like it is happening in real time, you can fill the vibration represent everything you see and hear as well in real time.

Horror aspect

When talking about horror, we do not talk about jumpscares. We talk about the atmosphere that you are placed in during the game. I knew this game inside out when i played the original. They managed to take everything you know and turn it against you. Every single passage you thought you knew? Yea good luck. Now it is expanded and there are surprises waiting for you. You though the hospital is not that scary? Ok, take this other world section that will give you nightmares for days to come. Oh you thought the pyramid head was boring as well? Good, see you in the labyrinth.

Final verdict? 10/10, they managed to do the impossible and delivered an originally claimed Master-Piece and elevated it. Please buy it and do not see the spoilers. This is a GOTY contender.

I can't believe how much value can fit in the price of $4.50.

This game is the definition of redemption. They released a half baked game that was barely serviceable and managed to convert this game into a near GOTY contender.
Kudos to CD Project Red for this masterpiece.

This is the first time i see a game released 10 years ago still being in alpha and unplayable.

It is unacceptable to ship a game in this state. Fps drops to 15 fps with a 3060ti/5600x/32gbram kai nvme is not justified.
Before you ask for 60 euros for a game maybe test it before green lighting it.

This is propably the most optimized first person shooter game i've ever played.
Feels great, the graphics are amazing and is a big step up from its predecessor.
Should have been the GOTY of 2020, but sadly there were not enough lesbians or plot holes in this game.
