When I first bought the GOTY version of this game on sale for overwhelmingly positive reviews, I didn't really know what I was getting into. It took me a few months to start my first playthrough, to see if I share the same opinion as other people. After finishing 98% of the game (including the DLCs) on highest difficulty (with enemy upscaling and Gwent hard mode), after several complete playthroughs and exploiting the game almost to the limit after watching all kinds of online tutorials and videos, I finally feel qualified to review this Amazing Masterpiece.

Don't listen to the people who compare it to Dark Souls III or Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Those games are different and good in their own way, for their own fans. It is like comparing apples and onions. It does not make any sense.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an open-world story rich RPG, that immerses you right into what is happening, because it has very strong atmosphere. For me, it was the first Witcher game I played, so I did not understand all of the story, where it came from and so on, but it was easy to pick up and I enjoyed every bit of it, growing from a newbie, to a badass monster slayer. It was a real relief for me, coming from competitive games that required a lot of focus and energy to rank up. It took me a while to get used to the controls, to learn what is best in every situation... but it was all worth it.

The graphics is beautiful, the story is rich, but you can achieve so much more with mods, which are so easy to install a lot of the time. Trying to capture all the beautiful moments and poses that characters go through made me feel like an artist, a real digital photographer. It took me a while to figure out the best settings, but it was worth every detail, every pixel of texture and every screenshot looks almost like real life.

The story is based on books, which makes this game even more rich. This is one of the reasons this game is one of the best games of all time. The storyline that you can influence with your decisions is so addictive, that sometimes I just save the game and try all options to know which suits me best.

The battle mechanics is very close to perfect for such a complex system, which can be modified with mods, or completely changed by them... Although it could use some tweaks to resemble the real world, like being able to jump over small obstacles during battle and so on.

The overall attention to detail is amazing for such a large world, there are very few unserious bugs in the game as of now, most have been fortunately fixed.

There are more playstyles to choose from: either you want the whole story or the action + survival or just completing every quest, collecting all the potions and trophies and checking what all the abilities are capable of. As many more people have said, with every playthrough, you may find something new, even if you think you looted every inch of every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ house in every city.

One playthrough usually takes around 120 hours, depending on many factors, but it has always been a great experience for me. Getting all achievements is not too hard, but it is not easy either. That being said, the game offers much more playtime, if you really want to explore the game on a deep level.

As a Dungeons&Dragons fan, it was my fantasy come true dream world, which gave me peaceful world exploration, scary immersion, intense battles and freedom to choose the Virtuous path of a knight, or a Barbaric path of an emotionless profit-oriented monster slayer.

THE END.
