TL;DR: If you're low on money, you don't miss out on anything by not buying it.

The items are nice, but most are reskins of other very common in-game items and you'll be replacing them anyway a few hours in. They are only relevant for those who have played Larian's previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, as they are references from that game. The only actually useful item is the Mask of the Shapeshifter, which gives you free uses of the Disguise Self spell (and the spell itself is not one you'd use that often).

The "Aventurer's Pouch" can be sort of useful, especially if it's your first time playing, but, similarly to the D:OS2 items, you're probably going to be finding enough and better resources a few hours in (I didn't even use it).

The dice reskin is just that, a dice reskin (and at first can be sort of confusing since they replace the '20' with the Larian Studios logo and the '1' with a Mind Flayer face). The paintings are more of "unofficial collectibles" since you find them hidden throughout the game, but can't really do anything with them until you've reached the city and rented out a room at the Elfsong Tavern (mid Act III).

The artbook is nice and shows a lot of interesting stuff; having the soundtrack in the other hand is great for easy access, but the average person can just find them on Youtube or Spotify anyway (the composer has his own channel / account).

Early Access Review
END OF EARLY ACCESS REVIEW

The Early Access for Baldur's Gate 3 has reached its conclusion and the game already points at being a masterpiece. One can only wish for this game to become the standard of the RPG industry, but it's BG3 uniqueness that makes it awe-inspiring.

The beauty and lore Larian has crafted for this instance of Faerun gets you immersed and hooked to a vast Fantasy world that equals Lord of the Rings levels of epicness with every dialogue choice and action you take. Each character, be it companion or random NPC, feels realistic and human, even if the character doesn't happen to be human. The music alone deserves its own level of epic.

I've been following the development of the game since 2020 and can greatly approve how Larian Studios dealt with user feedback. Most of the often requested features were added. People asking for a better dice system? Added. People asked for a more "gritty" atmosphere? Added. People asking for more pacifist options? Added. People asked for a change in the UI? Changed. People asking for a change in the reaction system? Changed. And this goes on for a while. A big kudos for listening to community feedback.

Of course, there were some issues that most people complained about. For one, communication from the studio. Between patches, development updates were almost non-existent. Complete silent. Players had to wait until their "Panels from Hell" (a fun rendition of devstreams) to find out what is going on. They have promised to make more frequent dev updates in 2023, the year of release, but it might still sting a bit the people who had to wait up to 5 months for 2 years to receive some news.
There were other complaints, regarding the mechanics of the game. Not being able to choose the most effect party member to make the skill checks, the party linking system, pathing, not being able to test the good-aligned companions, Paladins not having deities (despite the fact that this is a requirement in this setting), inventory things suchs as keys or books, among other things.

I think, in general, every great thing BG3 has heavily outweights every low point. In the current state BG3 is, unfinished and limited, it already surpasses 98% of every other cRPG out there. By the time the game releases, Early Access would last almost 3 years - and every day of those 3 years waiting will be absolutely worthy if the game can hold up to what has already shown.

"My favorite 6-7/10 game" - an unknown sage, in a random, probably toxic, forum. Date unknown.

Being honest, it feels like a game a company would release in 2014 to compete against GTA V.

The game itself is not that bad, but it doesn't really feel like a game I'd want to play again. Entertaining, but only to play once. There's really no reason to reinstall or replay it once you finished it, at least until they release story expansions. The story is a generic dystopic sci-fi tale, and it does not feel unique at any moment. It has a few interesting quests, but apart from main quest, you kinda always do the same thing, to the point where I usually thought "there's so much more that could've been done here."

I wouldn't recommend buying it right know (Q1 2022). It's better to just wait until they release some "Definitive Edition" with all the expansions and at a lower price.

PS: If you're looking for an RPG and have been told this is supposed to "change every other RPG in history"... it's true. Every RPG in the future will look at Cyberpunk to avoid doing what they did if they intend to release an actual RPG. You, reader, and me, can probably make a game that feels more like an RPG on RPGMaker in just 1 hour than what CDPR did with this game in 7 years.

I would say this should be the standard for every isometric/turn-based cRPG in the future, but this game is one of a kind. The studio did a magnificent job and future game studios would face an herculean task equalling the quality of Divinity Original Sin 2.

I didn't like turn-based or isometric games at all - almost hated them - before playing DOS2. This game change my mind. A must for RPGs lovers.

Early Access Review
Pretty good and challenging one-buttom platformer with interesting mechanics. The graphics and music are quite nice, but kinda repetitive. Hoping they add more levels soon.

>Have the biggest army the world has ever seen. Genghis Khan would be scared like a little child.
>Conquered 98% of the world.
>Most honorable soldier ever known. Respect enemies, friends and allies. Treat them the same, even the peasants.
>Be known in the whole world for being the most badass soldier, never lost a single battle.
>Win every tournament I take part in
>King of six kingdoms
>Hundred of thousands of gold
>Attractive af
>Ask the last king, who only has one castle left because I conquered everything, if I can marry his daughter.
>"Sorry, you need to understand that I am a king and my children cannot marry you"

Nah, there's nothing I can say about this, they did a pretty good job.
