I've waited a long time for this game. The world is beautiful. The art style is wonderful. The gameplay is slightly worse than Dragons Dogma:Dark Arisen due to slower traversal, but that's just my personal preference. The combat is just as engaging and the new classes add a lot of variety to the game.

*The following paragraph, due to the modding scene finding workarounds, is now rendered outdated, just leaving it here because it was an issue*
(My main gripe with this game is anti-cheat on a single player game. I understand banning players for modding a multiplayer game, but this has no multiplayer. You can't ruin the gameplay for others with mods on a singleplayer game. Only reason its there is so that they protect their microtransactions. In games like Monster Hunter: World, where there are microtransactions but they don't impact the game, I had no issues with them. I even purchased a few haircuts. But this game took it too far. Not that the individual microtransactions are egregious, although they don't actually add anything to the game, but the big issue is they INSTALLED ANTICHEAT ON A SINGLE PLAYER GAME.)

Back to gameplay. The grey health mechanic is changed from the last game in a way that is not to my taste, I'm not a fan of only healing it at camps and inns, but again, personal preference.
My problem with it: if you die, you are loaded back to your last save. With a penalty to your MAX HP. The grey health carries over through save/load. So if you're in a spot where you're against a tough enemy and you just barely lose but saved right before it, you are at an even further disadvantage on your next attempt.
Also fall damage also adds grey health, so you get punished for trying fun parkour.

As for the length of the game, I don't mind, simply because the allure of Dragons Dogma is the open world. Which is gorgeous and has a good amount of content if you just explore.

My final verdict on this game is that its a good game handicapped by corporate greed.
If you took the time to read all of this, just know that at its core it is a good game. I can now recommend it due to the modding scene's hard work. I'm still not a fan of Denuvo on a single player game, or games in general, but its not the worst game for it, and I don't want this to become the new norm games, too.

I have edited my review due to new information. I still don't like the fact that it has Denuvo or microtransactions, but I'm always willing to admit when I'm wrong. Enough people are saying that the anti-cheat doesn't matter and hasn't caused problems, I had been under the assumption it was a more aggressive one, as some people had been banned for just deleting their save file(back before the game had the option to remake your character)

Credit where credit is due, plus, I have always been partial to Dragon's Dogma's world building. Its enough for me to change it from not recommended to YES.

Ive been playing the game modded just fine though. Some of the mods are a must have at this point for me, I wish they would just integrate the difficulty tweaks and random encounters mods as game options, feels like stuff that should just been in the game honestly, but at least the mods are there.

What a crybaby review. Not only can you mod the game to hell and back, defeating any point of this imaginary anti cheat, you can 100% avoid any and all microtransactions, They're not in your face whatsoever. In fact you can play the entire game without even knowing there are microtransactions.
Has 140 hrs under his belt but can't recommend the game cause of made up issues, sounds like a typical gamer alright

Guru吗?that sounds really frustrating. Have you played since? I'm trying to decide whether I should get it or not. I'm thinking eventually, when it goes on sale. They're charging too much for a game that has mixed reviews.

Weird, was not expecting the comments on this review to mostly be boot-licking for a the poor multi-billion dollar company. Honestly, I think i'll enjoy this game too, if they ever remove the Denuvo.

?????
What anti-cheat? You can mod the game however you like AND tear it apart with cheat engine as well.

Idk concerning the anti-cheat mechs, but I faced my own problem with save\load. Yesterday, When I tired of running to the Inn, bought 6kg camping kit, played 5 hours at least and ended game when firsly face sphynx, listened her riddles and decided that i dont want to be involved rg in her quests, obviously game auto-saved, but I decided to leave, thinking that next day I just click on "load Inn-rest". I was thinking that camping and inn-rest is the same mechanic, but faced that now I wasted more than 5 hours of progress. So rn I dropped this. Now IDK whether I decided to come back.

Anti cheat wasnt for microtransaction protection but to prevent people from modifying theyre pawns to create cheat pawns and adding them to the online pool. The issue is that anti cheat is on but inactive when playing in offline mode.
