Sonic All Stars is still special for me because of the Jet Set Radio characters, but this is the best non-mario kart racer (edit: including mario) I've played. I'm having the most fun of my kart racing days.

The dynamic maps are great, many different forms of shortcuts, from classic map based to jump based, rail based, boost based shortcuts, and they all change between matches, roads closing/opening, the rails you grind on have many different places they appear, same as places you can just jump over for an advantage or spots in air that you can jump into to get an air trick combo going for half the map.

The rails that you grind on and balance as if skating to get a speed boost are a really fun. The jump mechanic is also a great addition, there are map based obstacles you can jump over, like giant tentacles, or player generated ones, making every race even more varied. Air tricks are also always nice.

The claims that the game is p2w is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I got 25 racers in my first week of playing for completely free, 2 of them lvl 35+, 10+ of them lvl 20+. There are more than 60 characters each with unique character specific moves, and people are whining they don't get the latest character for free instantly. The developers obviously need something (money) to develop.

All this coming from someone who hates the ♥♥♥♥ out of Disney btw.
