TL;DR:
Iz gud, solid 9/10, near perfection, absolutely worth your time and money!

After 207h of playtime and a total completion of true 100%, I think the time has finally come to close the Ammonicon for good and let the game rest.

Enter the Gungeon (ETG for short) is a roguelike top-down shooter with detailed pixel-graphics that has been a great source of entertainment for me over the last year. It was developed by Dodge Roll and published by Devolver Digital. To be honest, I don't know how to put my thoughts on this game into words. It looks beautiful, sounds good, feels intuitive to play, has a nice but quite steep learning curve, which after you start getting good at it proves to be very rewarding. The game has a progression system similar to that of The Binding of Issac, you unlock more and more items and weapons that you can find and use in your future runs by either overcoming certain challenges within the Gungeon, like beating a boss or reaching a new floor, or by buying them from rescued NPCs who hang out in the Breach, which acts as a main hub for the game. The game has a large variety of weapons, items, characters and run modifiers. For those interested, it also has some fun lore to offer, if you feel like digging into it. But I do have one fair warning, it's rare to have a run so good that you don't have to depend on your personal skills to be victorious ... well, at least not until you unlock and start playing in rainbow mode. It takes a certain amount of commitment to learn, get good and master the mechanics of ETG. But once you do, you will feel good. You will be finding things, that you previously thought were impossible suddenly become trivial, as you slowly become better and better at dodging bullets and knowing the patterns you have to look out for. In general, I must say that the ratio of gameplay value provided to the price is totally off the charts, I would definitely recommend buying ETG just because of that. If I was an owner of a Nintendo Switch, I would even gladly buy the physical collectors edition for it, just to support Dodge Roll even more. They sure deserve a lot of praise for bringing us such a great game. Well, that's about it. I wish you luck, as you delve into the Gungeon yourself!
