The events of the second part take place on the same planet Pandora just a few years after the famous failure of the four Vault hunters. Skags still run across the desert plains, free rakki soar in the sky, and bandits set up their camps. However, something has changed. The opening of the Vault by the heroes provoked the release of eridium, an extremely valuable resource, the extraction of which is the focus of the Hyperion corporation. Handsome Jack, who headed Hyperion, announced a policy of cleansing the planet from the gangster infection of the colonists, who rallied in a place called Vault to jointly resist the corporation. Thus, the plot background is the classic struggle between powerful, numerous, but “evil” exploiters and weak, but morally more gifted rebels. In terms of plot, Borderlands 2 does not shine with originality, repeating the canonical scheme of many dystopian works. Nevertheless, as the game progresses, the plot captivates us; pleasant and not so pleasant surprises await us, which shed light on the events of the first part.

But it wasn't just the locals who fell out of favor with Jack. The new four Vault Hunters are already thwarting Hyperion's plans to industrialize Pandora. New heroes are well-forgotten old ones: Gunzerker (in Russian translation Shizostrel) is a “tank” that prefers to shoot with both hands; the graceful siren Maya, who paralyzes enemies with her phase blocking ability; soldier Axton, wielding heavy "guns"; and the killer Zero, who can temporarily become invisible, creating his phantom double.

In the shoes of one of these characters, the player will have to join the colonists’ camp and show Handsome Jack where the Rakki spend the winter on Pandora. Our old friends will help us with this. Scooter, Dr. Zed, Marcus - everyone found shelter in the Vault. Moreover, as NPCs we will meet the Vault hunters from the first part - slightly older, but still as combat-ready.
