It's a Bethesda Game! Which is all you should really need to know! But here's the deal:

Don't go into this expecting what No Man's Sky promised. Rather, it's more like if Mass Effect were less linear and the whole trilogy was a single game. You jump from planet to planet, and alternate between exterior zones and interior zones interacting with pre-built or partially procedural content as a means of exploring the lore, side-quests and core narrative. Excellent experience.

One last caveat: Your computer MUST have an SSD to house the game in order for it to function. Without that, every time your machine tries to play dialog or more than 4-5 sounds at a time, it will seize and you will get errors. Other than that, graphical demands are pretty high. Even with a GeForce RTX 2060 (which until now has not given me any trouble ever) I find the game only really runs well on lowest possible settings. So it is definitely not a game intended for us poors who must use hand-me down or scavenged parts.
