After playing many new visually stunning and complex games i decided to give the fabled half life 2 a shot even though it was quite old at this point. i was not let down, the story telling was very immersive and i felt like i had a real purpose and effect in the world, the gunplay was basic but functional and enjoyable. Where i thought the game started to set itself apart from other was its world building and its many mechanics that would surprise you like original weapons and creative ways you could use them to pass through the levels. The mapping and changes of environment was absolutely top notch and really made the game for me. I personally never had a dull moment in the levels, going from the urban city all the way out to the boonies in the middle of nowhere, and deep into enemy territory, shooting through something different each time felt very fresh and says a lot about the quality of games today considering this game was made almost 16 years ago. Over all the game really has no cons other then the visuals not being up to date which is self explanatory and some weird funky sound design when a npc is talking and you have your back turned it sounds like they are talking to you a mile away on a broken loud speaker. This game is an absolute joy to play and i would highly recommend playing.
