Arod's Alchemical Analyzer and Tomes

Description
Adds arcane devices and tomes which analyze alchemy ingredients -- even those from other mods -- in a game-balanced and lore-friendly manner.

Let's face it: someone has probably already figured out that the dragon gizzard you scavenged from your last kill cures warts on sabertooth kittens. So why are you running around gathering stuff only to waste it in blind, mindless experimentation?

The Automated Alchemical Analyzer is a conduit to the Royal Alchemists Guild in Cyrodiil. Place any unknown items in the container, push a button, and for a small fee a registered alchemist will tell you what you have and what it does - without even losing the sample. If you are lacking funds, you can even perform the analysis yourself. You can find one behind the locked door in Arcadia's shop in Whiterun, hidden under the stairs. And people wonder why she's so skilled at Alchemy when she can't even tell a case of the Rattles from Porphyric Hemophilia...

Also keep your eyes open for "Alchemy Tomes" in several locations across Skyrim. These work just like Spellbooks and Ability books, except that when you read them, you learn about the alchemical properties of various items. These generally come in two styles - learn a lot about a few items (such as bird eggs) or learn a little about a lot of items (such as animal parts). Look for three on Arcadia's dining room table.

Version 1.2 Update:

Lowered analysis price from 10x to 3x value of item.

Added 5 new Analyzers: Sindarion's Field Lab in Blackreach, Drelas' Cottage, The Midden, Dawnstar Sanctuary, the Cistern Vault and the Archmage's Quarters. Unlike Arcadia's, these are all unlocked.

Search these areas for the following Alchemy Tomes as well, and expand your knowledge of rare ingredient properties:

- Eggs of the Northern Wastelands
- Bug Mashing for Fun and Profit
- The Big Book of Daedra
- The Master Baiter (and other Fish Tales)
- Botany for Barbarians

Version 1.1 Update:

Added Alchemy Tomes - Mod authors are encouraged to add their own Tomes... Just add my SnauxAlchemyTeachPropertiesScript to any book, and point it to a Formlist of your own ingredients... just give me credit, a link to this mod, and don't modify the script!

Arcadias is made intentionally difficult, to preserve game balance at early levels, since hers is the first Analyzer you will normally encounter.

There are 6 others in the world, each requires a sort of payment to use... Sindarion's is by far the safest, but its remote. A dangerous wizard guards another, and 2 others are safe and easy to get to but requires you finish either the thirves guild or mages guild questlines, etc.

Please refer questions regarding my other mods to the proper mod pages. In a nutshell tho all items are "used" via special abilioties or spells, eg theres a spells called "Throw fishing net" or somesuch.

oops totally missed original question - sorry
- anway we can pay Arcadia to use this, instead of lockpicking or jumping the objects and being arrested ?? Just trying to not get repeated trips to jail... it's irritating

umm pse excuse a complete noob... I finally got the hang of your satchel & backpack drop, but cannot pick them up... is this normal ?? will this be the case with all your amazing items ?? love the fishing but must be doing something wrong too as cannot get fish net to catch anything...
is their a page I am missing on information ... it does say about an information something in the backpack but I cannot find it - also I cannot figure out the skse so that is not on glad you do not need it, way too involved but it did look interesting - not going there though, would love to move and use my own box's and chests etc, is it your intent that the satchels be loaded and carried in our inventory with items like real life ?? that's what I am aiming for or wanting to do with my houses... cheers

It's not bad, but I levelled SO many chars during the beta phases the thought of having to do all those quests over again makes me sick. And let's face it... the days of $15/mo subscriptions is over. Games like Path of Exile (totally free) prove that microtransaction games don't necesssarily mean "pay to win" either.

WoW is dying but there's really nothing to replace it: GW2 fell short, as did Rift and a few others; I was really looking forward to ESO as a WoW-replacement, but the multiplayer features that made WoW so amazing are still underdeveloped and clunky. It feels like a single player game being played by 500 people at once, rather than being the cooperative multiplayer experience World of Warcraft provided so well.

ESO has potential... it's just not there yet. I hope they figure this out before people stop playing it.

ESO has been a bust for you? Do you mean the monthly payment? If so-- I got the same problem ... after purchase
Arod Snaux  [author] 4 May, 2014 @ 6:04pm
Given that I probably WROTE the mod you are using to build and place chests, yes, it's entirely possible. =)

Since ESO has been kind of a bust for me, I will probably reinstall Skyrim and start modding again, and this is definately on my to-do list.

I'm loving this idea... but is there any way we could just purchase an Analyzer ourselves and place it in our labs??? I don't steal.. and having to travel around Skyrim to have an ingredient analyzed just seems a bit excessive. The cost of the Analyzer wouldn't be cheap... and there would still be the cost of the Analyzing, so I think it would still be lore friendly.

I don't know how feasible this idea is; I do have a mod which allows you to build and place crates, chest, etc... so I know it's possible; though I have no idea how difficult such a thing would be, especially with the type of Mod you're speaking of... but if it is possible, that would really be a very nice addition to any lab.
