How To Tame A Horse
Items Needed

To tame a horse you will need the following items.

Capturing Rope

Lump Of Raw Sugar

Where To Find Horses
Horses can be found at different places. Here is a screenshot of the map with horse spots highlighted. Horses can be found in different tiers, you can find tier 1 to tier 5 horses in the wild. Tier 6 to 8 are obtained with breeding. A tier 9 (awakening horse) is obtained with a tier 8 courser with courser training in stone tail horse ranch

Catching A Horse

For the next part find a horse and equip the capturing rope by right clicking.

1. Walk up to the horse but dont walk to close when you are in range click to throw the rope.
2. After that a minigame will start. Don't press spacebar right away only when the horse raises his hooves spam click spacebar.
3. If the horses doesn't raise his hooves walk up to it.
4. Keep doing this till your standing next to the horse.
5. Feed it some lump of raw sugar.
6. Mount it and hope for the best !

If you fail taming it repeat this process. If you succeeded in taiming it go to a stable and register the horse.

How To Breed / Exchange Horses
Breeding Rules

Female horses can only breed once, while male horses can breed twice. You are able to reset breedings with a pearl item. This is also the reason why female horses have a higher demand.

Breeding Setup

You will need a male and a female horse in 1 stable and they must have full stamina to breed. To collect the faul you will also need a extra slot in that stable. When you dont have a male horse you are also able to breed a female horse with a male horse on the breeding market. Breeding will take 2.5 hours to complete.

Exhcanging

You can also exchange horses. This is almost the same as breeding them. You will need a male and a female horse aswell. The difference is when exchanging a male and female horse the 2 horses will dissapear and you will get a faul in return. Exchanging will cost 35k silver.

Breeding Calculator
Here is a breeding calculator that gives an indication on what tiers you are able to get. Just select what tiers and lvl horses you want to breed.

This guide misses a vital point.

'Where do you train your horses?'

I see the majority of horse trainers (even the veterans) in the game training in the safe zone of towns. Thats the worst spot where you can train your horse! Trainng there will slow down your speed due to all the NPC's and players using the same auto-path line, you will constantly bump into them with your horse. And you have a much bigger chance that your horse will break the auto-loop due to lag spikes. Plus that your computer uses way more resources in the towns.
B✪✪tsy 7 Apr, 2021 @ 7:16pm
(2/2)

Other trainers try to be smart and create a long auto-path loop around the towns, but by doing that it's just a matter of time before you are getting killed by an other player when you train AFK.

The right spot to really train without lag and other NPC's is the beach near the town Olvia. One section of the beach is a large safe zone. You need to fiddle a bit to setup a good long autorun loop, but once you know where to place it you will have such a better time training horses, without lag and glitches etc.

Otherwise a good guide :)

Color Distribution / Coat

The color distribution is an important thing (RWB - Red White Black). Referred to as the coat, which is respresented by the letter following the tiernumber. Some purebreeds / coats cant learn certain skills. Specific skills are needed on the horse for it to become a courser. And no courser = no dreamhorse.
Parent color values are added together and the value that matches (or exeeds) the foal-tier will be the dominant color. The other color-values get into the foal-coat too. I would not try to get that into a stylesheet though :)
The level of the parenthorses are said to have an influence too but i have no data on that. Afaik, horse with higher level is dominant for foalcoat. Lower level horse is dominant for visual aspects (length of hair and stuff like that).

Afaik, parentcolor/visuals are not relevant when exchanging horses.

Horse speed is counted in 10% steps ingame. A horse with 139% speed has the same speed as a horse with 130.5%. But horse-equipment does give bonusspeed. If that bonus gets the horse above a 10% "wall" = higher speed.
And more speed is needed to get more lags and graficcard meltdowns.

Leveling/Training

For the leveling stuff, horse speed = horse experience gain. While the horse is moving, experiencepoints are earned by the horse every couple of seconds. The more distance the horse has travelled during that time the greater the number of points earned.

When on a wagon, a riding crop and lots of experience boni are not active. You are riding a wagon, not a horse. (same for elephant and camel) This becomes important when your characters trainerskills come into effect. They affect the horses chance to learn a new skill. Which is not happening when you are riding anything but a horse (a wagon). So yeah, level up horses you dont want to keep but breed only. If you get a good horse breed, train it personally.
Afaik it is still unclear how the trainerskills work. But i wouldnt fancy my chances with an apprentice trainer on a t8 horse. Might just be a waste of a great horse.

Great basics guide, thx. Lots of breeding guides go into specific details so deep and fast, they become unreadable and confusing for a beginner. And additional confusion is the worst when learning.
Here are some infos that are pretty important as well. And the coat/color/skill stuff is needed for the dreamhorse guide anyway.
