Ancient Warfare

Description
Hello fellow historians, to my spinoff of Epic Warfare, titled so because it focuses on a more historically accurate and realistic so to speak side of the game.

Suggested by my dear friend and modder Milo.

The mod is based on my other project, the Romans, which itself is based on Callistonian's work of UMC High Priority, incorporating many fixes and improvements as well as the framework for UMC Ancient Units pack, from which I'm using the assets from and is needed in order for this to fully function.

What I have done is the following:

Removed mythological creatures from temples, you can only get the ones called in from the Gods, Titans and the ones that spawn when you age up as I couldn't remove them sadly.

All units, including heroes and economic such are 1 pop cap, no exceptions.

Houses provide 30 population space, Manors 60 per each building and can produce villagers and research upgrades so the mod may reach a bigger scale. Of course, credits to Purple Design Studios for the original mod and idea.

Trees have lower obstruction radiuses to allow troop movement in between them, similar to the Total War series of games. Callistonian made the original mod and expressed that he would like to see it implemented in a bigger project one day so I decided to oblige him and experiment with it.

And of course, the Romans replacing the Atlanteans.

This is it for now, I have several other ideas which are meant to make the game feel more realistic such as capturable economic buildings, buildings creating debris after they are destroyed and using Callistonian's attachments (perhaps other cosmetical changes too) as well but they will have to wait for now until I see that this has success and I find the time to implement them as well.

As always, everyone involved will be properly credited regardless of how big or small their part is.

Cheers.

P.S.

One minor change I forgot to mention was moving the Greek Physician from the Town Center to the Temple as all other Civs had a non-mythic unit they could train from their temples by default.

Not on the vanilla Trident campaign sadly, but the mod is outdated anyway and I'm not really planning on updating it any time soon.

However if you feel like it you can go to the game files in the mods folder and find it, then just update the files in the data folder that say 2.7 to 2.8 so it can actually work.

So for example if you rename the proto2.7.xml file to proto2.8.xml it should technically work along with the other files that have the same version.

To be honest I have no idea.

I haven't played it in a long time and now with Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition soon launching I'm not sure when I'll get back to this game and it's mods.

I might just wait for a Definitive Edition for AoM as well.

No idea honestly, I've never played modded AoM online.

Hey A. Solider ! Thought I'd let you know that when I try to play the mod with a friend of mine, whom also has the mod installed. We play a game for about 15 min, then it loses connection and the kicks us out and back to the lobby. Then I tried doing the same 1v1 without the mod enabled and AoM works fine, no disconnection. So it can't be the internet connection. What do you think may be the issue here ? :)

Yeah dude, as long as you all of the people in the lobby/match have the mod, it should theoretically work.

And it's no problem, I'm just specifying that they're not reskins like I said, at least most of them.
Skooma Sam 28 Aug, 2018 @ 10:32am
Well okay yeah, they're not skins, didn't mean to crap on your work. each induvidual unit must of taken some time and again, thank you so much for this mod :) But, does it affect campaign and multiplayer ?
Armor Baron  [author] 28 Aug, 2018 @ 9:50am
They're not skins, at least most of them, but yeah you're welcome.

I've always wanted Romans in the game while playing the Atlanteans.
