Glad you found it at least slightly challenging. I'm not exactly sure why you consider this grunt work while also stating that it took a bit of thinking to get through. There's 3 square symbols in the 2nd room. All of them had a sign showing what they would do if there wasn't already an antline connecting to the other element. The only one that I'd image you're talking about is the one on the very left of the beginning part of the 2nd room. It's pretty obvious what it does - When you put a cube in it, it helps unlock the exit door.
