Description
Mod status: RED
as of 5/1/22, causes crash to desktop.
I'm not sure when I'll fix it. Should work with previous versions of the game.
It's hard to keep up with a game that updates so much that I don't really play anymore


Essential Information
  • Use AB-I's solar panel ability to lower hunger and increase speed, but watch its temperature
  • AB-I can’t use injectors or clone itself with cloning draught


What is an AB-I?
The Alterable Body One series (AB-I) was designed for maximum compatibility with parts from other models. Since they stopped being produced long ago, those still functioning today are a mishmash of parts borrowed from defunct models

You play as a recently rebooted AB-I, on a grand adventure of slapping random parts on yourself (represented in game via mutations and cybernetics)

This mod was designed so that you can start new games quickly, but have each individual AB-I grow differently as it levels. Just choose a display and go!


Gameplay Mechanics
Immunities
Psychic, gasses, disease, fungal infection and more

Weaknesses
EMPs will stun you. You can not use injectors on yourself or cook, but Food from your inventory and ovens is still consumable. You can't be cloned or altered by a graftek.

Displays (Castes/Callings)
These simply change the shape of your facial display and body color

Solar Panel
Activated ability that recharges your internal battery (lowers hunger) and overclocks you. Can only be done outside during the day. Overclocking increases your action speed and temperature gradually over 10 rounds, with a 10 round cooldown. Normally, one usage will increase your action speed up to about 200, and your temperature up to about 340 degrees. Cooling down between uses is recommended, as AB-I’s flash-point is 350 degrees.
The cold, heat resistance nearby objects and standing in or near a liquid can help reduce your temperature.

Mutations and Cybernetics
AB-II has a 33% chance to gain a random mutation every level, but never gains mutation points. It can add cybernetics as a True Kin would, but has no starting cybernetics.

Mechanical Kin
Your starting reputation with robots is zero, so most robots won’t be hostile to you. You can also rebuke robots as a True Kin would. You bleed oil, your dismembered body parts can be disassembled for bits and you have a 40% chance to drop scrap on death. Losing is fun!

I made this before rusting was a thing. Robots have come a long way I guess

Shame.

As for the rusting, it's something robots have to worry about in-game, though I understand for non-insanity reasons if you don't want to add it.

My mod seems to break every few months as they put out new updates.
I might take a look at it soon. It's a good bit of work to learn their changes and rework them. And I haven't played CoQ in a while

Thanks for drawing my attention to it, Arendeth.
This update just killed the AB-I (2mp/lvl), but not the AB-II (unstable genome). I'll probably rip out the AB-I in a little while. So complete any saves you may have with it soon!
I don't know if I could update this mod to still have similar functionality with the new module system, and I doubt I'll be trying in the near future
