Description
Forewords

This is a legacy version for 1.3. This is the last time I pull this crap i swear, all future versions will make use of the multiversions. I broke them into two mods due to concerns with how changes in textures and code interacted with each other and could compromise the experience in both versions. I was probably doing something wrong, but hey, lets not mention that.

If you used the original mods
Disable both "Edo themed Armor" and "Edo themed buildings" They are both included in this pack alongside the new content.
If you use the original separate mods in one of your saves, it is perfectly safe to disable both "Edo themed Armor" and "Edo themed Buildings" and replace them with this mod. While the save file will report a change in the mod list, all your items will remain.

It does NOT include
Ghost of tsushima music pack
Stand alone hotspring retexture

Item list

Weapons

(The persona blades are called Legendary Katana in game)

Armor

Buildings

Biome

Recommend to use with these mods

Ancient Eastern Armory

T's Samurai Faction, My mod contains a number of redundant weapons, if that bothers you use My redundancy removal patch

Both T's Samurai faction and Eastern Armory add similar sets of armor, but the eastern armor has extra ones. I believe T has a patch for removing the redundant items.

Erin's Japanese Furniture

Velcroboy's Japanese Revival

Dub's paint shop also works nice with the Kimono.

Samurai Kabuto By salty adds another Kabuto, good if you want some variety.

RimThemes Sengoku Pack by Dredd, perfect for a feudal japan play through.

F.A.Q

Can I disable the Bamboo forest biome?
Yes, Edo themed expansion makes use of Vanilla Expanded Frameworks toggable patches, so you can tick on the "Edo Themed Expansion: Biome Removal" patch to remove the bamboo forest, although it requires a game restart to take effect. Go to the end of the images for a visual demonstration on how to do this.

Compatibility

T's Samurai Faction, Built in compatibility, plus a redundant item remover here

Built in support for V.E Fishing.

Built in support for BB body.

Built in support for [NL] Facial Animation - WIP (Some of the hairstyles added are adjusted for the new faces)

C.E, Not compatible.

KV] configurable map will cause problems with bamboo forest generation, one uncovered example is increasing the fertility slider caused the map to be covered in mud. Other sliders could cause similar effects, not extensively tested though.

Know Issues

None, thanks for NoirC for helping to solve the two longest issues.

Special thanks

VE team for their fantastic framework.

All the modders who helped me troubleshoot some pesky issues.

Röstli, for writing the Alpha animals patch and helping to update my patches.

Velcroboy, for helping me sort my assembly folder and fix some yellow errors. And his mods for inspiring ideas like the Tori gate.

NoirC for fixing the two known issues that plagued the mod.

AOBA for their amazing "Architecture of the Rim" mod, which I very shamelessly stole inspiration from.

The V.E Props mod, for inspiring the Sashimono banner, as well as just the general use of props.

Erins Japanese Furniture mod, which also provided a huge source of inspiration. Specifically around Tatami mats and how to handle them.

PERMISSIONS

All my stuff is free to use in your mods. That being said, some form of credit or acknowledgement is required. All you need is a little "Special thanks to" or something, its disingenuous to do so without crediting, as by omitting credit you imply you made it yourself.

Additionally, please ask first. If you neither ask nor provide credit, I will fully assume you are attempting to steal my work and pass it off as your own.

This does not apply for mods clearly labeled as patches, re textures, or mods that use mine as a dependency. No form of asking or credit is required, for any mod using mine as a dependency.

Final words

If anyone should so desire to support me, leave a comment. Seriously, its free and I love to see em.

But since I was asked once, if anyone has some extra change burning a hole in their pockets, I have a Ko-fi now.

Final update for the legacy version, it brings the reworked textures from 1.4 back, while I will try to fix any issues for 1.3 from here on out this version is considered discontinued.

Thank you so much!

New update should fix this, you may now have both subscribed, if you are trying to resume a 1.3 update use the legacy version of course. The save file will say they are not the same mods but it is fine, simply ignore the warnings and resume the old file.

Well, that's alright. I'll just make a new colony with the new stuff. Big kudos to you for the great and now updated mod!
Hei  [author] 23 Oct, 2022 @ 1:58am
Eh no, not exactly. For some reason i can't fathom rimworld has tagged the 1.4 version as 1.3 AND 1.4, and is getting confused about which version is which. That is why i broke them into two mods. TLDR i can update the legacy version to be distinctly separate, but you will have to deal with any add-on mods like the backstory saying its missing a dependency. They should still work, but save files and the add-ons wont recognize legacy version as the same mod.
Kearse 23 Oct, 2022 @ 1:55am
Huh, so 1.4 is backward compatible? I wanted to keep the legacy version around for my 1.3 colony, but if it's not needed, then that's great.
Hei  [author] 23 Oct, 2022 @ 1:53am
You wouldn't want to use both versions, they both use the same i.d, this was so any translations or community patches wouldn't be broken by the split, and save files resumed would automatically recognize the 1.4 version as the same mod. That being said I suppose mods will have to update eventually, and changing the legacy versions id wouldnt be the end of the world.
Kearse 23 Oct, 2022 @ 1:48am
With both versions subbed, the base game gives an error about them. The mod manager therefore only displays the 1.3 version. I think they have the same name? Would be great to add "legacy" to the 1.3's name for this reason I believe.

The original plan was to release a massive content update and texture overhaul! I was finishing up the texture overhaul when biotech launched, so the game plan is to fix biotech and release the texture overhaul with it!

The new content is being split into a future update. That being said, im getting very close to squashing each error, cut it down from an insane amount to a few left! 1.4 should be ready pretty soon.

I'm so glad to see you're still actively working on this. I look forward to both the 1.4 version and to all the future additions you're planning :happyhearthling:
