Description
Have you ever found it strange that children pawns speak the same dialogue as adult pawns? Well, I did, and someone else did at one point...but they deleted their mod.

This is a complete overhaul of the interactions seen in the mod Speak Up. As such, Speak Up is required.


What does it add

  • Unique dialogue for child pawns 4 and under. Babbling, broken English, and all.
  • Dialogue for multiple mods, including:
  • Pawnmorpher 1.3
  • Babies and Children 1.3
  • Dub's Bad Hygiene
  • Cutebolds
  • Nyarons
  • Anthros
  • VSIE
  • VTE
  • Bundle of Traits
  • Probably more

Compatibility
Should be compatible with everything

The dialogue spoken is a broken form of English, as I tried to emulate how children have difficulties pronouncing "R's", and how they oftentimes speak with incorrect pronouns, prepositions, etc...and after making this mod I think I'm fluent in toddler language.


I added interactions for many mods as seen above, and I know I probably forgot a few of them. If you don't have one of the mods installed, the dialogue simply won't be used.

Fair warning, you may get annoyed by the children, especially if you have multiple little brats running around your colony. You may end up like Adult Pawns who dislike children...

Another warning: Adults will swear at any children they dislike. F-bombs and all. Children however, will not swear. They will however, ask why they hate them so much...here is the link to the SFW version:

Known Issues:
  • Fluffy's Mod Manager throws an error saying the mod depends on SpeakUp >=0.0.0, safe to ignore.
  • Alien Races that have weird life stages, such as Androids from Android Tiers, will speak the dialogue meant for children. For now, a workaround would be to change their ages via Character Editor, or edit their life stages in Rimmsqol.

To do

  • More interactions - Prisoner interactions are complete, but I was having issues with adult to children interactions, needs fixed.
  • Clean up code - More code clean up...
  • Working on some additional mods that would work hand-in-hand with this mod. No promises as to when or if they will be completed, just something to do in my spare time!

@Settlerking - Weird, I've not used the Asimov mod, but I will download it and see what I can find out too. If regular SpeakUp doesn't play, it's likely SpeakUp that is causing the issue since this just builds upon the framework created by SpeakUp by adding to the existing InteractionDefs, but on the other hand, it's entirely possible there is an XML error or something causing the issue due to this mod. Thank you for the heads up!

all other pawns are fine btw. It also has zero issues with the "animal-like" pawns using the asimov framework since they don't interact with the social system at all

Im fairly certain this mod conflicts with asimov framework, Any human-like droid using that framework will break speakup. I'm unsure if it's base level speakup or this add-on to it but I think it might be this add-on. I'm investigating what causes it, but it keeps failing to generate dialogue for Asimov pawns consistently.

@Ollie-Raven it only impacts characters under certain ages. Since Androids are typically aged under 9 years old, it impacts them because of that. Unfortunately, there's no way to fix it currently.

This seems to cause all ages of ABF android mods to speak like babies. Regardless of the andriods age

@lol - Funeral interactions are from Ideology I believe. Either way, the error is save to ignore, it just means the interaction won't play

Consider adding Biotech as a prerequisite?

@Ram - Done. Would've been done sooner but Steam wanted to keep changing the PublishedFileID.txt to a new one for some reason, took me a minute to notice it.
