Heroes and Generals

Description
Heroes and generals
“Heroes and Generals” is a revision mod for AOM:EE that aims to change several game mechanics, in particular those relating to the use and balance of heroes, in addition to adjusting and adding various other content.
1) Addition of campaign heroes to skirmish mode:
Multiple campaign heroes have been added to the skirmish game mode. They were all rebalanced and distributed among the different civilizations and ages within the game. Characters like Gargarensis, Kastor and Arkantos, for example, can now be trained in matches outside the campaign. Relive the nostalgia of fighting alongside old companions on new battlefields (like Amanra and Folgstag) or control those present in the campaign but who couldn't be controlled (like Theris and Kemsyt).

2) New Heroes:
In addition to the addition of campaign heroes, completely new ones were also created. Furthermore, many of them have special abilities, some completely new and completely new. Your civilization now has new, unique, never-before-seen heroic units. All new playable characters have names in accordance with the civilization and are completely knowledge-friendly. Lead your armies with powerful heroes and use them to destroy your enemies.

3) Recovery of existing heroes and semi-heroes:
Some previously non-playable characters can now be controlled in combat, such as the Regent, Krios, and Emperor Yao. All with unique abilities to help their civilization ensure supremacy. Even Athena now functions as a complete hero, and can even fight in battle (that's right!).

===================================================

Below are some heroes and their abilities:

•Amnu: Egyptian Camel Hero who has a spear throw capable of killing enemies instantly. He can also train a unique unit: Amnu's guard, special camel drivers with a unique look.
* Pollux: Atlantean knight hero who releases a powerful war cry and increases the attack of nearby allies (similar to Arkantos);
* Skarde: Norse Eineihar hero who throws enemies around him into the air, causing them great damage;
* Tarkus: Atlantean destroyer hero who can crush buildings with his special ability (similar to the Mountain Giant);
* Vibald: Hersir hero with a unique look who can launch enemies with his hammer blow (similar to Kastor and Ajax). His name was inspired by a secondary hero who faces Arkantos in the "Welcoming Committee" scenario of "Fall of the Trident";
* Niordsir: Norse knight hero with a war cry that boosts nearby allies. It has a unique visual texture. His name was inspired by a secondary hero who helps Chíron in the "A Long Way From Home" scenario in "Fall of the Trident";
* Sethos: Egyptian avenging hero who throws enemies around and causes them great damage (similar to the battle boar);
* Tambal: Leader of the Nubian mercenaries and captain of Amanra. He has a powerful spear blow and can train Nubian mercenaries (archers, infantry and cavalry);
* Kos: Leader of the Atlantis automatons. Can train special SPC automatons.

In addition to the examples above, existing heroes were reworked and gained new abilities, or had their abilities increased;

* Athena: now has full attack like any other hero. Additionally, she was given the power of lightning that launches enemies around (similar to Arkantos God);
* Onrlu: can release a wolf howl that damages surrounding enemies (Similar to the Nemean lion);
* Santa: has a powerful kick that can instantly kill villagers, caravans and dwarves. Furthermore, its special crushing ability can now be used against large mythical units, such as the colossus and mountain giants, among others;
* Bjorn: fusion of two existing heroes: Flag Bearer of Folgtag and Polaris. In other words, he is now a metamorph hero, a human who can transform into a powerful bear during combat. His special ability is a ground strike that knocks enemies in front of him (similar to the Heka Giant);
* Kamos: blow with horns that can launch mythical units and humans. Expanded ability to affect medium and large mythical units.
* Heracles: club blow that can launch mythical units and humans into the air. He now possesses the great strength spoken of in Greek mythology.

In addition to balancing the heroes, several other mechanics were also introduced, some already known and popular and others new:
a) architect heroes: each of the 5 civilizations gained an architect hero capable of constructing useful buildings and beautification resources. They too and can collect resources and fight. Are they:
• Djoser: Peasant and leader of Egyptian builders. He can build pyramids and statues like those of the pharaoh and lions.
• Greta: Heroine villager. She builds shrines, dwarven forges, and valkyrie statues for the Norse.
• Libon: Greek architect. You can build the temple of the gods.
• Philon: Atlantean builder. Build Gaia pools.
• Tang: Master architect and subordinate of the emperor.

b) New mechanic: Leaders.
Now, upon reaching age 4, all civilizations receive a powerful leader who will govern the nation and use his special abilities to help his people. The 5 types of leaders are: 1) Regent (Greek); 2) Pharaoh (Egyptian); 3) King (Norse); 4) Theocrat (Atlantean) and; 5) Emperor (Chinese). The characters are:
• Regent Mineus: trains special soldiers, depending on the Greek Greater God chosen by the player: a) Poseidon – militia. b) Zeus – cataphract. c) Hades – shadows of erebus (limited to 3).
• Pharaoh Son of Osiris SPC: automatically generates extra favor just for being alive. Like other leaders, he can be trained again if he dies.
• King Folstag: trains special soldiers, depending on the Norse Great God chosen by the player. a) Odin – Bondi; b) Thor – Hero of Ragnarok (limited to 5). c) Loki – wolves of the fimbulwinter. He has the power to freeze any non-Titan unit, including heroes.
• Theocrat Krios: Has a gigantic line of sight, the same size as the lighthouse. It can train SPC automatons (limited to 10).
• Emperor Yao: Generates resources automatically, just by being alive (gold, food and wood). He can train generals.

c) Heroic Ships for each Greater God:
All major gods now receive a named heroic ship at age 3, similar to the Argo ship for Poseidon. They are powerful aquatic units, some with unique looks and Lore-Friendly names.

d) Other mechanics included:

• Titans can walk on water.
• Extended population and resources.
• Trainable herding animals.
• Rechargeable powers.

e) Known bug: Sometimes the Son of Osiris icon in the sanctuary appears in red, as if he had already been recruited or exceeded the limit. Just ignore this and click on the image normally and it will be trained.

f) This mod uses some elements from the following mods:
• “Mountain Giant Redesign” by AlanWake
• “Chinese Misc Units” by AllanWake
• “Citadel for All Civilizations” by Nick3069

Yes. In the future I may try to make a mod to just insert the heroes into the editor. Do you intend to run a campaign with custom heroes?
Hello, your mod is really cool but would it be possible to make a version that only adds the new and updated heroes (like Athena) to the editor and doesn't change the skirmish mode? Just wondering thanks. :)

@FOrS4ken Here are some compatibilities and incompatibilities:

- Incompatibilities: mods that change the date or tecthreee, mods that change animations of heroes and semi-heroes from the base game.
- compatibilities: mods for new maps, scenarios and customized campaigns that did not include new content that changes heroes or data and techtree, AI mods, texture mods that do not change heroes or characters worked by this mod, user interface mods.

These are some of the mods I tested. You may test others at your own risk. Finally, I recommend not playing the campaigns, especially those in the base game, with my mod activated, as it has not yet been adequately adapted to work in the campaigns. Thanks for signing up and I hope you have a lot of fun. :steamhappy:

Subscribed, how do we test it out? Does it conflict with other mods?

@masteratwriting42 Unlimited powers rebalance the game to make it more fun and strategic, especially in longer matches. It is the natural evolution of a concept created by the community and which was adopted by developers including for AOM: Retold.
Can you suggest or indicate which powers in the mod need to be balanced? I mean, reducing or increasing the recharge time, limiting the number of uses, etc. I would be happy to review your specific suggestions.
Finally, thanks for the feedback.

@EpicNinja007 Some cinematic character animations have been removed to make room for other useful animations for the mod. If you (or anyone else) is playing campaigns with this mod, I don't recommend it, at least for now, as strange things can happen since I haven't tested the mod in campaigns. In the future, I intend to make a specific version for the campaign. Anyway, thanks for downloading my mod and for the feedback.
