@Tal'Raziid: Yes, it isn't edible

@BOT404: Easy, you can't
BOT404 22 Mar @ 4:55pm
Do the condiment effects stack if I place more than 1 in a gourmet soup?
Tal'Raziid 22 Mar @ 10:05am
Is it intentional that flour cant be added to nutri-paste grinder hoppers?
Is it because your pawns cant eat flour itself?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 20 Mar @ 12:39am
1- Yes. Lavish doesn't advance to gourmet

2- Yes, any. No, no need for you to have the condiment
Scio Me Nihil Scire 20 Mar @ 12:29am
I've just noticed that two of the expertises from Skills Expanded seem to correspond to mechanics added with this mod, but I can't find any explanation of what exactly they do on either page, or even really in-game since their descriptions are bit vague.

Gourmet Cooking, "improves meals beyond their usual level of quality." Does that mean that if that chef is producing fine meals, there's a chance they'll come out as lavish instead? How would that apply to cooking lavish meals that turn out gourmet; do you get a meal with no condiment effect? Would it be wasted if that chef is cooking gourmet meals since there isn't a tier above that?

Flavor Mastery, "randomly adds cooking condiments to meals." Does that apply to ALL meals cooked by that chef, even ones that wouldn't normally be able to accept a condiment? If cooking gourmet meals, is there a chance to get two effects on a single meal? Does it require that condiment to be somewhere in your colony for it's effect to be added by this?
Teneksi 18 Mar @ 4:32pm
I find it (before reading FAQ) very odd that the condiments are only used for low-quantity gourmet meals. When I use mayo and ketchup in the real world, it tends to be alongside a horrifyingly large quantity of cheap foods.

...This might be an American problem.

But in the course of writing this I've read your FAQ, and looked closer at the condiment effects, which I didn't realize were there. I understand that gameplay is prioritized over realism. This seems like the correct choice. I now see that my first colonist to sample gourmet food has a whole body "consumed mayo" hediff, which is kind of incredible.

Outdated VE Framework

i have a bug: villagers don’t use the whole ingredient list for making the gourmet soup. they only use the whole stack of one ingredient that is in the recipe. for example: they use 7 pieces of salt or 75 pieces of meat, so they make soup only with stack of one ingredient, not using other needed ingredients. or they make gourmet bake only with 20 pieces of flour. and the recipe for the soup and bake is still the same as it was. villagers use only a stack of one ingredient, not the whole list of ingredients from the recipe

Any plans to make canned milk?
Canned condensed milk is a thing after all.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 4 Mar @ 10:54pm
No
voltstrikerz 4 Mar @ 4:34pm
Might it be possible the research integrated into the base research tree or removed?
Valikdu 24 Feb @ 8:45am
Request: could you expand the compatibility to VGP Vegetable Garden? Specifically, to have the fruits there be available for making dessert recipes. And also perhaps to Ashlands, with the same reason.
Right now I'm stuck with just having vanilla berries as the possible "fruit" ingridient :/
StockSounds 19 Feb @ 12:28pm
I'm convinced that the Vanilla Expanded food series wouldn't be nearly as popular if the icons weren't just a big bright eye-catching color and a concept.
CommissarKaiser 18 Feb @ 9:10pm
There is an issue with eletric pot thats says the inspect line for vce_electricpot201546 contains empty lines.
Futur Planet 14 Feb @ 10:22am
Tiny "bug": Twisted meat is allowed standard in deep fryers and soups. Maybe somewhere else as well.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 12 Feb @ 10:18am
All processors will be swapped to a new, improved system anyway. I'm slowly chipping away at its code
CCC_Caesin 12 Feb @ 10:02am
yea, soup is a good way to save the pawns from unnecessary manual labor... Guess it is only fair that we players take the manual labor ourselves XD:steamthumbsup:
Michael.Golanski 12 Feb @ 6:38am
Sad. Soups are extremely suspectible to solar flares unless I wake everyone to rush to uninstall the pots before it spoils.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 12 Feb @ 4:10am
Not supported by the currently existing system
CCC_Caesin 12 Feb @ 4:08am
is there any specific reason that we cant select multiple cooking pot at the same time? It's almost torturous that i have to manually reset recipe for every single soup pot ONE BY ONE when there's a solar flare happened.
jeeba83 10 Feb @ 6:33pm
This may be me misunderstanding on how this works, and it may have already been covered in the comments but I am not understanding the point of frying the food: it seems to me that it takes 20 raw meats for instance, but when the product is done frying, I only have 4 fried meats? Where’s the 16 other meats?
Michael.Golanski 9 Feb @ 2:02pm
Any chance to have Helixen powered cooking pot (for soups) when loaded alongside Helixen things?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 9 Feb @ 10:01am
Exactly!
Danger Girl Forever 9 Feb @ 9:34am
Yes I did a month ago when I downloaded it. I wasnt expecting to get food security so I just make simple and lavish (for people who are going through breaks sickness etc) and tried to branch out for new stuff yesterday. I just built the grill for the first time last night and havent even delved into the other stuff yet.

If Im understanding this correctly, this food is not meant to be stored because it spoils even when it is stored at 10C (50F) in about 3 days so now I have to figure out production to make sure I dont waste resources.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 9 Feb @ 8:26am
No, I mean in the grill infographics themselves :)
Danger Girl Forever 9 Feb @ 8:05am
Ok its in the "faqs" section. And no I didnt read that part....Thank you I guess.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 9 Feb @ 7:36am
No offense meant, but have you read the infographics provided above?
Danger Girl Forever 9 Feb @ 6:25am
...ok so how do I store them without them spoiling?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 9 Feb @ 4:00am
You are... putting them in a freezer...
Danger Girl Forever 9 Feb @ 3:58am
My grill meals instantly become ruined when I put them in a freezer. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 1 Feb @ 9:42am
Yeah, desserts have to be coded as drugs in RW if you want to be able to schedule them
Gify25 1 Feb @ 8:50am
Ideology - Drug use: prohibited and deserts, it took a while to find the relation why pawns refuse to eat them, feels a bit stupid but makes sense after reading the description.
BrenTenkage 29 Jan @ 10:32am
dumb idea. Deep Fried Twisted Meat...might drive pawns insane how tasty and untasty it is, a paradox of flavour...could be a fun lp idea, a fast food place that serves deep fried twisted meat.

Valhamyr 22 Jan @ 4:53am
what job is supposed to put the unfinished soup on the electric pots / take it off when its done, my pawns are completely ignoring it.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 21 Jan @ 1:19pm
No, they are long gone
PoundItSenpai 21 Jan @ 12:39pm
is there a version with the health penalties?
blackrave 18 Jan @ 5:54am
Why would you even think that agave syrup is tequila?
it's like thinking that mashed potatoes is vodka lol
5g horse 17 Jan @ 11:28pm
i take back my previouys statement
5g horse 17 Jan @ 11:25pm
is agave nectar simply tequila
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 17 Jan @ 11:06am
Exactly
blackrave 17 Jan @ 10:08am
I see, so no ingredient will transfer effect to meals? (akin to some honeys from Alpha Bees)
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 17 Jan @ 8:57am
It will probably lose them
blackrave 17 Jan @ 8:14am
Wanted to ask about mecha cheese- does cooking with it translates it's effects to meal, or is effect ruined in a meal?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 15 Jan @ 10:50pm
Yes
KFP pain. 15 Jan @ 9:10pm
Are the gourmet meals only supposed to cook one at a time? I dont know if i am doing something wrong or not but i cant cook gourmet meals in bulk.
Kylar 8 Jan @ 6:56pm
I don't remember where the recommendations section is but I feel like adding a pirate pack would go well with the pirates vfe, such as hard tack and smoked/dried fish/meat that last a long time but give a mood debuff
Wintermist 8 Jan @ 6:24am
Well, the problem was ingredients, indeed, hence why I went for soup. Still starved to death though hehe
Sarg Bjornson  [author] 8 Jan @ 6:22am
Oh, it's actually super efficient, as you get 10 meals out of minimal pawn work
