After sharing about our latest team #retreat in Sicily, a lot of people DM'd me to ask what it's like to work at MUI and what opportunities are open here. ☺️ 💚 Well, you don't have to take my word for it... 👇 ~40% of MUIers have shared their transparent work experience in a Glassdoor review — giving a very holistic picture of what it's truly like to work here. And in the interest of #transparency and #values, here are some of the core themes we've come across in reviews: You'll love working at MUI if... 💚 You value flexibility and autonomy, with full remote and asynchronous work. 💚 You enjoy a supportive, collaborative team culture with talented colleagues. 💚 You thrive on challenging projects and taking ownership of your work. 💚 You appreciate transparent leadership and perks like yearly retreats, wellness budgets, and minimal meetings. MUI may not be right for you if... ❤️🩹 You struggle with self-motivation or need constant guidance — we hire "managers of one." ❤️🩹 You prefer in-person and synchronous collaboration over remote work — we have a documentation culture and often work, share ideas, and make decisions in long-form writing. ❤️🩹 You find slower decision-making frustrating — we emphasise quality over speed in what we deliver. Sayonara, Sicily. 👋🏻 We're heading home from the latest MUI Together Week — and we've got all the feels. One thing I never tire of witnessing at these events is how the energy of our team transforms throughout the week. On arrival, a blend of nervousness and excitement can be felt across new and long-standing MUIers alike. Pockets of connection begin to form as we share ideas; stories; and new experiences. Contagious laughter fills the air. People make a conscious effort to sit and talk with people they don't ordinarily, and in true MUI spirit, help create an environment where everyone feels accepted and included. Finally, all our work and play culminates into what I can only describe as a pile of gratitude. I hear endless "thank yous," people triple checking, "are you leaving now?" — making sure to squeeze in final hugs and sweet goodbyes. It's so damn special. ...luckily it won't be long 'til we meet again! I want to issue a big thank you to our leaders for investing so seriously in team connection. And another big thank you to our team for diving FULLY into this #retreat. All of your openness, enthusiasm, and willingness to stretch beyond your comfort zones is truly what makes these meetups what they are. #lifeatMUI #community #inclusion #remoteteams #remotework

Despite progress in many areas, women continue to face numerous barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and leadership opportunities. 🙅♀️🏛️ It’s important to shine a light on those barriers and acknowledge the work that still needs to be done. 👈 Did you know...? 📊 (a) 70% of women in tech say they have been treated differently at work due to their gender, compared to 11% of men in tech (via Women Who Tech - The State of Women in Tech Report). (b) Women in computer and mathematical occupations earn 83% of what men earn in the same roles (according to latest available data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics - Earnings of Women and Men by Race and Ethnicity). (c) For every 100 men promoted from entry-level to manager, just 87 women are promoted. As a result of this “broken rung,” in a typical company, men end up holding 60% of manager-level positions, while women hold just 40%. There are fewer women to promote at every subsequent level so women fall behind and can never catch up with men. (via LeanIn’s Women in the Workplace Report) (d) Research shows the lack of representation of women in STEM is not a pipeline issue; it’s an inclusion issue. Women are expected to “prove themselves again” and to behave in masculine ways in order to be seen as competent. A study by Frontiers in Psychology revealed that when it comes to evaluating future job candidates or promotions, men are judged by their potential while women are evaluated on prior work performance (via HBR 5 Biases Pushing Women Out of STEM & The Proof Versus Potential Problem). Gender bias and discrimination in the workplace negatively impacts us all, and we all play an important role in diminishing its power. Today, I invite you to make a commitment to doing something EVERY day that leads to a more inclusive world for alI. 💙 #internationalwomensday2024 #iwd #iwd2024 #inclusion Pictured: the women of team MUI striking the pose for this year's International Women's Day theme, "Inspire Inclusion."

👁️ Here’s a sneak peek into MUI’s No-CV hiring trial from Engineering Manager, Danail Hadjiatanasov! Why is MUI piloting a CV-free interview process? ⭐We believe that a CV doesn't always tell the full story of a person's capabilities and potential. To uncover the unique ways individuals can contribute, we choose to step beyond conventional hiring metrics. ⚖️We believe a CV-free approach creates a more inclusive and diverse hiring process by focusing on individual talents and real-world skills rather than standard resumes. 👏We’re committed to building a world-class candidate experience—offering candidates a more relevant and engaging application experience that respects their time and centers their skills. BEST. WEEK. EVER. 💙 Feeling a deep sense of joy and #gratitude for the special moments shared by our team last week in Phuket, Thailand... 🇹🇭🌴 At MUI, we take team connection seriously, with core values urging us to "Put #community first." This isn't just about our user base; it's a call to foster a strong sense of belonging within our internal team. Enter: MUI's Together Week. This team #retreat brought MUIers from all corners of the world together to pursue many worthy outcomes at once: 🤝 Strengthening bonds and relationships 🌱 Growing as individuals and a team ⚙ Tackling important challenges 💡 Sparking new ideas From the start, it was evident how much this meant to the team. Early arrivals, despite the long journeys, preferred lively conversations over bedtime. We stayed up, laughed, and truly got to know our peers, some of whom had worked together for years without meeting face-to-face. Each day involved intentional activities to foster connection. We shared new experiences together (including snorkelling, participating in other cultural traditions; sailing to neighboring islands; and playing hilarious games until the wee hours of the morning). 🌅 We engaged in real conversations about work and life. As the retreat concluded, there was an outpouring of stories, reflections, warm memories, and excitement for when we might be able to meet next. 💌 What I witnessed unfold during this retreat was truly extraordinary: Colleagues transformed into true friends. 👈 For those questioning the value of this, check out Jon Clifton/Gallup's compelling research on the subject (sharing some articles for you below!). In essence, having friends at work results in increased effectiveness and enjoyment, and what leader wouldn't want that? As we return to work, I want to give one final big shoutout to the incredible MUI team for embracing the spirit of adventure, collaboration, and community that made this time together such a success. Here's to the memories created, the connections strengthened, and the high-performance culture that continues to define us. 🚀🤝 #lifeatMUI #culture #remotework
