The German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG) is a joint academic institute and think tank formed by the German universities of Frankfurt and Münster together with Thammasat University in Bangkok. Its foundation in 2009 dates back to the German federal government’s excellence initiative as a result of which five centers of excellence with distinct missions were established in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The research agenda and recommendations of CPG researchers are rooted in open-minded inquiry and intellectual integrity. Our scholars and contributors represent diverse points of view. Research topics cover Comparative Public Law, Human Rights, Governance & Compliance, Security & Peace Studies. Our mission is to conduct in-depth research, organize academic events, consult and advise public and private stakeholders, and pursue a comparative perspective of transfer of ideas and knowledge between Europe and Southeast Asia.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Paweł Marek Mrowiński and Mr. Jakub Artur Kucia from the Promotion and Communication Office at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, Poland, for a friendly discussion at our offices. This visit followed up on a similar meeting in March with senior faculty members, including Dr. Maciej Ras, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Head of the Didactic Unit, Professor Jakub Zajaczkowski, Head of the Department of Regional and Global Studies and Dean's Representative for International Cooperation and Research Programs, and Mr. Sajor Kumar Aryal, a Ph.D. Researcher at the faculty. Yesterday, CPG, with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation Thailand and the Asian Governance Foundation, successfully hosted the conference "Thailand's Path to OECD Membership: Reforms, Challenges, Opportunities" at the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. The event brought together 60 selected stakeholders to discuss both the potential and challenges of the transformative process that a potential OECD membership both promises and requires. The conference began with welcoming remarks from Dr. Axel Neubert, Resident Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Thailand, and Henning Glaser, CPG Director and Executive Director & Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Governance Foundation. Henning Glaser then delivered a comprehensive introductory lecture, outlining the opportunities, constraints, and key challenges of Thailand's bid for OECD membership.
