Using cutting-edge tools introduced to them throughout the training, the teams showcased their new skills and brought their visions to life! The 2024 Gold Award “#Culture” Winner is Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA)’s “Revitalizing the Unique Performing Arts and Traditional Local Wisdom of the Trai Trung Community through the Establishment of Cultural Community Tourism” 🏆 The Trai Trung community, Kamphaeng Phet Province, #Thailand, is a historic area known for preserving its rich cultural heritage. For more than 70 years, the community has been documenting local knowledge, songs, and traditional performances, like the Kor Kai Dance and the Elephant Dance, to safeguard its unique identity and engage tourists through interactive cultural experiences. With support from DASTA, Trai Trung also embraced adaptable community-based tourism models and cultural resource management, bringing heritage preservation into its tourism framework. These initiatives have not only promoted local cultural values but also strengthened community bonds, created jobs, and ensured fair income distribution—driving Trai Trung toward sustainable development. Under the theme "ConnecTEAing with Suruga", the event began with a welcome address from Hajime Nagasuki, Executive Director, Japan National Tourism Organization - Thailand, followed by an introductory presentation of Suruga.
