Ahmedabad: The draft budget of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for 2025-26 was postponed due to the byelection for the Ghatlodia ward, which is scheduled for Feb 16. The counting for the byelection will be held on Feb 18, and only after the election process concludes on Feb 21 will the civic body budget be presented, said AMC officials.
Initially, the municipal commissioner M Thennarasan had scheduled the presentation of the draft budget for Jan 28. He sought guidance from the State Election Commission regarding the budget presentation. However, the election code of conduct restrictions necessitated postponing the presentation until after the completion of electoral proceedings.
The AMC follows a process where the municipal commissioner presents the draft budget, followed by amendments by the standing committee, and then the final approval by the general body.
