Oppn has exposed failures of govt in assembly: Cong
Panaji: The ongoing assembly session has exposed the govt’s shortcomings and failures, said Congress. The state Congress president Amit Patkar said that all the ministers in the cabinet are involved in corruption and this has been shown by the opposition in the assembly.
“This govt is out to destroy the common man and is only looking out for their crony friends,” said Patkar.

Patkar said that the Goa Electricity Department (GED) has Rs 2,214 crore outstanding dues from commercial users, industrial users and govt departments, which should be recovered instead of increasing the power tariff for domestic consumers.
“The net gap of surplus for the electricity department is Rs 415 crore which is why the govt told the JERC that it has to increase the power tariff,” said Patkar.
Patkar also said that Congress has managed to expose the govt’s failures in the tourism, transport, and health sectors and BJP’s interest in the ST community.
“The first two days of the assembly session have shown what concern the BJP has for the ST community. It is the first time in the history of Goa that the ruling party created a ruckus in the House and disrupted the question hour. They wanted to defer the main questions that address the issues of Goa such as Dabolim airport, NEP and others,” said Patkar.
Congress said that the Mopa six-lane elevated link road should have been part of the Manohar International Airport instead of floating a separate contract and charging a toll for its usage. “Govt should take back the decision to charge toll from people,” he said.
