Police custody of Cansaulim gangrape accused extended
Colva: The judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Margao, on Friday extended by three days the police custody of five men who were arrested last week in connection with the gangrape of a 25-year-old mentally ill woman.
Adil Algur, 18, Mohammed Ali Mulla, 22, Shahzad Shaikh, 18, Viresh Aguanda, 18, and Mohammad Yasir, 18, were arrested for allegedly abducting the mentally challenged woman from KTC bus stand in Margao and gangraping her at a guest house at Cansaulim.
According to the police, Algur allegedly coaxed the survivor to travel with him from Margao to Vasco by bus. He thereafter took her to Dabolim on a scooter, where he was joined by the other four men who arrived in a car. They then travelled to the guest house at Cansaulim where they sexually assaulted her.
The tourism department has suspended the licence of the guest house.
