A pleasantly balmy Jan takes city by surprise

Ludhiana: Over the past few days, the city has experienced unusually warm weather for this time of the year, with even night temperature soaring above normal. The meteorological department has forecast mainly clear weather in Ludhiana over the next few days.
According to the meteorological department, the maximum (day) temperature in Ludhiana on Saturday was recorded at 22.9 degrees Celsius, which was 4.5 degrees more than normal and 0.2 degrees more than the day before. Data of day temperature in Ludhiana since Jan 19 suggests that day temperature in the city has mostly remained above 22 degrees Celsius. The highest day temperature in seven days was 23.8 degrees Celsius on Jan 20, which was 6.5 degrees more than normal. On Jan 19, it was lowest at 22 degrees Celsius, which was still 4.7 degrees more than normal.
Minimum (night) temperature in Ludhiana on Saturday was recorded at 7.8 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees above normal and 0.1 degree more than the day before. Data of night temperatures over seven days indicates that night temperature in Ludhiana remained above normal on all the seven days.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department forecast for Ludhiana till Jan 30 suggests a "mainly clear sky". Day temperature is expected to drop to 21 degrees Celsius on Sunday and rise to 23 degrees Celsius by Friday. Night temperature might drop to 7 degrees Celsius on Sunday and rise to 11 degrees Celsius by Thursday. Meanwhile, residents enjoyed the warm weather during the day.
Gurdeep Singh said that he didn't expect the weather to change so much in the last fortnight as it was cold around two weeks ago and now it is warm, especially during the day.
