BPSC aspirants on protest path again, FIR against 350
Patna: Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants were again on warpath on Thursday demanding cancellation of Integrated 70th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examinations, alleging irregularities and mismanagement.
Patna district administration, in a statement on Thursday night, said FIRs were registered against 350 protesters for disturbing peace, and law and order on Nehru Path, Veerchand Patel Path and near Income Tax roundabout. "The plea regarding the BPSC preliminary examinations held last year is sub judice, and hearing is slated for Jan 31. So, this protest, on the eve of the hearing day, was intentional," said a district administration official.
The candidates alleged that neither the BPSC nor govt was ready to listen to their concerns.
The candidates left their Gardanibagh protest site around 1.30pm, and started marching towards the BPSC office, where they were stopped by police. After hours of agitation and a few detentions, the aspirants reached near the ruling JD(U)'s headquarters, where they held a protest.
"We have been protesting for the last 48 days, but it seems nobody cares. Neither the commission nor CM, whom we have been trying to meet for long, is ready to listen to us. Hence we started marching on the streets to register our protest," said an agitating candidate.
Another candidate, Pranay, said that their only demand was re-exam. "The CM is not ready to meet our representatives," he alleged.
Interestingly, Union minister Chirag Paswan also supported the protesters, urging the BPSC to pay heed to their demands. He claimed that even people from his family, who appeared in the exam, alleged mismanagement at their centres.
