Patna: The special vigilance court in Patna on Thursday convicted Ramkrishna Mishra, former amin of the consolidation office in Dehri, Rohtas district, in a bribery case. Mishra was found guilty under sections 7/13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The court sentenced Mishra to six months of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 under section 7. He was also sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 under section 13(2) read with section 13(1)(d). The sentences will run concurrently.
According to a press statement issued by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, the case dates back to June 6, 2011, when Mishra was caught red-handed by the sleuths of the bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from Madan Singh. Mishra demanded the bribe for providing copies of five land khatiyan' documents.
The investigation was conducted by Inspector Vishwanath Prasad. Special Public Prosecutor Kishor Kumar Singh argued the case on behalf of the Bihar govt, leading to Mishra's conviction.
This is the third case in 2025 in which the special vigilance court in Patna convicted an accused in a corruption case. Earlier, on Jan 15, Rajnandan Kumar Shyamala, branch officer, agriculture department, new secretariat in Patna, was convicted. On Jan 21, Rajaram Singh, amin, Rajgir circle, Nalanda, was also convicted.
