Ensure timely completion of urban projects: Minister
Patna: State urban development and housing minister Nitin Nabin on Thursday asked the officials concerned to thoroughly understand govt policies and find better solutions to problems through public interaction. He stressed the importance of effectively communicating govt schemes to the public and completing every project on time with team spirit and leadership qualities.
Addressing the officers during a state-level workshop and review meeting of municipal bodies at Gyan Bhawan here, the minister stressed transparency in work and also directed officials to adopt a policy of decision-making and execution. He also said all officials must conduct spot visits of the schemes once a week, which will likely strengthen the condition of all municipal bodies.
Nabin said the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (affordable housing scheme) is currently a priority and related officials should monitor and verify the work effectively. "Continuous spot visits are necessary to raise public awareness about cleanliness. Monitoring the provision of clean drinking water in districts is also crucial. Maintenance of public toilets constructed in various places must also be carried out regularly," he said.

The minister said the responsibility of the govt lies in their hands as well and they should perform their duties responsibly. "The habit of leaving any problem unresolved must be changed. At all times, efforts should be made to improve the department's dignity," Nabin said while reviewing the progress reports of various schemes.
The department's secretary Abhay Singh, additional secretary Varsha Singh, housing board MD Rajeev, Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, along with several municipal commissioners and officials, were present in the meeting.
