Chhapra: Chhapra: Four masked and armed miscreants, riding two motorcycles, barged into a shop in Kolhua Bazar under the jurisdiction of Sahajitpur police in Saran district on Thursday and looted gold ornaments and utensils worth several lakhs. Saran SP Kumar Ashish visited the jewellery and metallic utensil shop soon after the incident and asked the officers from neighbouring police stations to investigate from multiple angles. The police said CCTV footage was being scanned to gather clues.
One Anup Kumar, 20, sustained a gunshot wound to his arm during the robbery. He was sent to Baniapur Referral Hospital for treatment. The injured youth is a resident of Sheikhpura village under Sahajitpur PS while the jeweller, whose shop was targeted, is from Dhangarha village. At the time of the incident, Subhas, the son of the owner, Amaranth Soni, was present in the shop.
Although the police have not confirmed the exact value of the looted items, locals claim the miscreants made off with 200 grams of gold and around 10kg of silver.
