ML demands arrest in ‘caste slur’ incident
Patna: The CPI (ML) on Wednesday demanded arrest of people who used caste slurs against the party's Phulwarisharif MLA, Gopal Ravidas, and prevented him from inaugurating the newly constructed school building, besides stopping him from unveiling the stone plaque containing the Preamble of Constitution on its campus on Jan 26 at Kurthaul.
To press for the demands, the CPI(ML) workers took out protest marches in the state capital and parts of the Phulwarisharif reserved assembly, as well as at Masaurhi and in Fatuha, in the Patna district. In Masaurhi, Ravidas led the protest march against the Kurthaul incident.
On Jan 27, a day after the incident, the CPI(ML) state secretary Kunal, in a communiqué, had alleged those involved in the Kurthaul incident were BJP supporters.
"The school building was constructed by the govt on the recommendation of Ravidas. The incidents at Kurthaul have exposed the mindset of the BJP and its supporters. They are anti-Constitution and anti-dalits," Kunal had alleged.
On Wednesday, the protesters demanded arrests of the named and unnamed accused persons, besides their booking under the sections of the prevention of the Dalit atrocities Act.
