'Emergency' box office collection day 6: The Kangana Ranaut outshines 'Azaad' and ‘Game Changer’ despite failing to make Rs. 1 crore on Wednesday
Kangana Ranaut's solo directorial ‘Emergency’ is close to completing a week in the theatres and at the box office. Showcasing one of the most controversial and sensitive periods of Indian history - the emergency era of 1975, the movie has been the topic of discussion right from the word go. Several curve balls were thrown at the movie, and after fighting all odds it made it to the audience. Further, right now it is battling for numbers at the box office. Though the conspiracy and initial trade predictions didn’t stop ‘Emergency’ from having a decent opening weekend, the movie is losing business on the weekdays. After making Rs. 1.05 cr and Rs. 1 cr on its first Monday and Tuesday respectively, the movie failed to have a round-up figure of a crore on Wednesday, according to Sacnilk.

The early estimates state that the movie has only been able to mint Rs. 0.85 cr on its first Wednesday. This took the overall business of the movie to Rs. 13.25 crore after a run of 6 days of theatrical release. It is worth noting that with the movie’s screening being banned in Punjab, the movie is losing numbers.

Day-wise net collection of 'Emergency' in India

Day 1 [1st Friday] - ₹ 2.5 Cr
Day 2 [1st Saturday] - ₹ 3.6 Cr
Day 3 [1st Sunday] - ₹ 4.25 Cr

However, it has been noticed that this week has been overall slow. It is not just ‘Emergency’ that saw a fall in the business, but even ‘Azaad’ (which was released on the same day as Kangana Ranaut’s political drama), ‘Game Changer’ (released on Jan 10, 2025) and even ‘Puhspa 2,’ which was ruling the box office since December, saw a significant dip in their collections on Wednesday. Sacnilk’s report shows that ‘Azaad’ managed to have a business of roughly Rs. 0.54 crore, while ‘Game Changer’ made Rs 0.75 cr and ‘Pushpa 2’ minted Rs. 0.50 cr. Thus, when compared to their business, the ‘Queen’ fame star is right now enjoying the throne at the box office.
