“Playing like a grandpa”: Skip Bayless criticizes Patrick Mahomes' playing style, calls it shockingly boring compared to his earlier years in the NFL

On a recent episode of his show, Skip Bayless criticized Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, expressing disappointment in Mahomes' evolution as a quarterback.

"Has anybody out there but me noticed that Patrick Mahomes is no longer Patrick Mahomes?" Bayless questioned directly, referring to the thrilling and dynamic displays that characterized the quarterback’s early career.
"That super-duper star, who took the NFL by storm in his first five years by 'Bombs away, everybody go long and I'll throw it 80 yards for touchdown after touchdown.' Storm! Storm! Storm! Patrick Ma-Home Run is what he used to be. That guy is gone, along with much of the splash and the flash."
Skip Bayless criticized Patrick Mahomes for his shift in playing style, calling him "the ultimate dink-and-dunk artist" and noting that Mahomes now focuses on short, quick passes rather than deep throws. This critique came despite the Chiefs' continued success, including a dramatic 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game, which secured their fifth Super Bowl appearance in six years.

"No NFL quarterback gets rid of the ball quicker than Patrick Mahomes," Bayless continued. "And it's not like he's 40 and conceding to age. Nope! Patrick Mahomes is playing like a grandpa at the ripe old age of 29."
Despite Skip Bayless's criticism, Patrick Mahomes' recent performances prove he's still a game-changer. In the Chiefs' exhilarating AFC Championship win over the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes completed 18 of 26 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown, while adding 43 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
