Rating: 3.5/5

Honeywell, known primarily for its expertise in home comfort solutions, has ventured into the audio category. It recently launched a bunch of Bluetooth speakers, including the Suono P400 – in a move that is surprising given the company's established reputation in other domains. With the Suono P400, Honeywell aims to cater to audio enthusiasts seeking a blend of functionality and style.

Apart from a speaker's performance and design, one thing that is crucial in determining if the company is successful in the competitive audio market is the price of the Suono P400. Interestingly, Honeywell Trueno U5100 TWS earphones are a value-for-money offering (Review Link), combining affordability and functionality, clear sound and a long battery life. We had similar hopes with the Suono P400 bluetooth speaker, which is priced at Rs 1,978 on Amazon.
Can Honeywell establish itself in a market crowded by the other audio brands that have already wowed with their price-to-performance value? We are here to find out in this review.

Design

Honeywell Suono P400 is a great-looking speaker with a solid build. It is compact, heavy despite it feeling slightly plasticky. The deep black speaker accentuated by red colour linings and elements provide it nice appeal. It has a cylindrical design and gets a strap to carry it around. There is a wrap-around mesh design and branding in bold, white letters.

The speaker is flanked by two bass radiators that vibrate with the music and they get RGB lighting. It can be used in both landscape and vertical modes. While in landscape, the Suono P400 wobbles a bit while to provide stability in vertical mode, there are resistance shoes.

The bass radiators on the Suono P400 pulsate rhythmically to the music while emitting ambient RGB lighting. The speaker can be positioned both horizontally and vertically, although the manufacturer seems to recommend using it in the tall stance as it includes rubber feet for stability when placed upright.
While the horizontal orientation offers a wider soundstage, the vertical position provides better stability. The IPX6 rating ensures protection against water splashes. On the back are the connectivity options: SD Card, USB, Bluetooth and 3.5mm AUX (cable provided in the box), and playback controls. The power button can be used to control the RGB lights.

The Suono P400 speaker gets Bluetooth 5.3 for stable connections and the inclusion of a microphone is a practical touch, enabling hands-free calls.

Performance

The Honeywell Suono P400 bluetooth speaker is equipped with two bass radiators and the 78mm drivers are claimed to produce 15 watt output. We tested the speaker with a bunch of songs and found the output to be fine, though the clarity takes a hit at higher volumes.
For example, we listened to the famous Tauba Tauba song. At lower volumes, the bass isn’t that punchy but vocals are comparatively clear. Some may like the controlled bass and the vibrating effect of the bass radiators. There are two front-firing speakers that offer stereo effect, enough to fill a small-sized room with good audio.

When we listened to Taal se Taal Mila, it was the same story. The thump was missing though the speaker handled the Indian instruments, like tabla well. Songs with soft music and emphasis on vocals sound fine. For example, in Naseeb Se, the speaker did a good job in handling the vocals without any significant distortion by melodies and instrumentation.
We also listened to some western music, like Don’t leave me here by Coldsteeze that primarily has vocals along with a pinch of bass. The speaker handled the vocals well but lacked a bit of depth. We think that given the price and features like solid build as well as RGB lights, the speaker sounds just fine.

Honeywell Suono P400 bluetooth speaker comes with a TWS function that allows users to connect two speakers together, however, we couldn’t test it due to non-availability of multiple units. There’s an integrated microphone that allows users to take phone calls. When it comes to connectivity, Bluetooth v5.3 provides quick pairing with Bluetooth v5.3.

Battery

Honeywell Suono P400 bluetooth speaker packs a 2,400mAh battery and fast charging technology supported by USB Type-C port. It is claimed to deliver up to 10 hours of total playtime with one full charge. We found the claims of the company to be largely true, however, it must be noted that the battery backup also depends on listening habits.

Conclusion

The Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker offers just fine audio experience. It is packed with a bunch of features catering to different user preferences. The availability of extensive connectivity options, RGB lights and aesthetic looks make it a fun element to add to your desk.
As an overall package, Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker is well-suited for just casual listening and outdoor activities. It is for those looking for loudness, RGB lights and good design. Don’t expect too much on the nuanced sound quality front.
