Reddit outage: Thousands globally unable to access app, website

Reddit experienced a second outage within 24 hours, impacting users globally, including over 1200 in India. Users reported issues with the app, website, and server connections. While the company initially claimed no incidents, they later acknowledged the outage on X (formerly Twitter), attributing it to a bug in a recent update.

"An update we made caused some instability. We reverted and are seeing Reddit ramp back up," the company said.

Reddit is down, again. Hours after recovering from a global outage affecting users worldwide, the US-based forum social network is experiencing an outage. As per Downdetector, there are over 75,000 reports of inaccessibility while in India, more than 1200 people have registered issues with the platform.
According to global Downdetector, out of 75,000-odd reports, 50% have said that they are experiencing problems related to the app, 46% said they are unable to access the website and 4% blame the server connection.
In India, 55% have complaints related to the app, 38% related to the website and 7% related to server connection. The company is yet to acknowledge the latest outage and its status post says, “No incidents reported today.”

Reddit down again in 24 hours


Reddit also experienced an outage that prevented users from accessing the platform on both mobile and PC. Reddit acknowledged the issue, attributing it to a bug in a recent update. Reddit was back online after a global outage hours later.
“Investigating: We are currently investigating this issue,” Reddit shared a post on X.
In another post, the company responded to a user asking if Redidit is down. Reddit replied saying “Yes. We're working on it.”
Hours after, a post by the official handle of Reddit Status says that the bug has been fixed.
“Monitoring: A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results,” the post read.
Reddit later said, “There was a bug in a recent update we made, but a fix is in place and we're ramping back up”.
