A new biography by a royal insider has revealed that Prince William reportedly "banned" Meghan Markle from wearing jewelry belonging to the late Princess Diana at her wedding. William, who proposed to Kate Middleton with Diana's engagement ring, was concerned about his brother Prince Harry’s decision to marry Meghan, and advised Harry to "cool the relationship" to allow Meghan time to adapt to royal life, according to the biography.

The claims were made by royal author Rob Jobson, who reveals that tensions between them were evident even before Meghan Markle, 42, officially became a member of the royal family in 2018.
Jobson wrote, “William, still concerned by the match, even sought assurances from the Queen that his brother’s bride-to-be would not wear any jewellery in the collection once worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, even though his wife Catherine had been allowed to wear some, which would be due to her rank.”
The biography by Rob Jobson reveals that the heir to the throne, who was in a long-term relationship with Kate Middleton before they married, was reportedly worried about the speed of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship. Their engagement was announced in November 2017, a year after they publicly revealed their relationship, which began in June 2016.
The royal author explained, “Harry claimed that the goodwill from William and Catherine disappeared long before the build-up to his wedding.”
“William had confided to his brother that he believed it would be better to give Meghan more time to adjust to the royal way of life and suggested he cool the relationship.
“Harry felt affronted and judged it to be an insult,” Jobson added.
“As a direct result, his relationship with his brother deteriorated fast. According to Harry’s book Spare, William physically attacked him.”
However, their strained relations were also evident in a series of tell-all interviews and Harry’s memoir, where they alleged various forms of mistreatment, including concerns about their baby’s skin color discussed by unidentified royal family members during a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
