AfricInvest is proud of the initiative taken by its portfolio company Fidelity Bank Ghana to provide free breast cancer screening in eight of its branches during the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness month). In Ghana, over 4,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually with nearly half of them succumbing to the disease. Alarmingly, up to 70% of these cases are identified at advanced stages, underscoring the critical need for early detection. Fidelity’s proactive approach not only exemplifies exceptional customer service but also demonstrates a profound commitment to women’s health and early detection efforts.

AfricInvest is excited to announce its Transform Health Fund’s investment in Lapaire, an optical retail chain offering quality eyewear at affordable prices in West and East Africa.    By implementing a fair pricing policy and providing free eye tests, Lapaire contributes to making eye care more accessible to low- and middle-income patients. AfricInvest and Proparco have provided close to $3 million in financing to the optical company, enabling it to extend its reach to new markets in Sub-Saharan Africa. AfricInvest is thrilled to announce the final close of its pan-African Transform Health Fund (THF), an innovative blended-finance fund launched in partnership with the Health Finance Coalition. THF exceeded its initial target, raising $111 million to improve access to affordable quality healthcare for underserved populations in sub-Saharan Africa. The successful closing allows the Fund to expand its investment into locally-led health supply chains, care delivery, and digital solutions in Africa, providing debt and mezzanine financing to scale proven high-impact health enterprises. AfricInvest is thrilled to have hosted its 2024 Investor Day in Nairobi this week! With the theme, “Back to the Future”, the event was an opportunity to both look back on the firm’s 30 year history, as well as to reflect on how our decisions today will influence the future. We had the honour of welcoming Ambassador Macharia Kamau, Ambassador and Special Envoy of the East Africa Community Facilitator on DRC and co-author of “Transforming Multilateral Diplomacy”, as our keynote speaker. We thank him for his captivating address on the origin of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have become a fundamental guide for the private sector over 10 years. The day was filled with engaging discussions on topics such as Climate Smart Agriculture, Affordable and Accessible Healthcare and Sustainable Mobility. The panels underscored the importance of innovation to tackle the challenges that lie ahead of us and drive sustainable development in #Africa.
