What an amazing event for our team! Last week, we had the pleasure of attending Mobidictum, where we set up our booth and connected with an amazing community of professionals. Twisted Tangle from Crescive Games, published by Rollic, scaled its IAP revenue from nearly nothing to $130K a day 🤑 in just last 3 months. It fully switched its revenue profile from Hyper-casual to Hybrid-casual less than 1 year 😱 after launch. Currently it's sits as the second biggest Hybrid in terms of IAP only revenue on my list after Survivor.io 🧟♂️ It is a physics based puzzle 📍, without any randomness, which makes it very unique in this category. Each level starts the same all the time, so you build your knowledge of the level, which you can reuse in the next attempt if you fail, as the only limiting factor is time. No cascades, no random layouts. Game design uses the "ragdoll physics" 🌠 of the ropes to its fullest potential, with mechanics such as rods, multiple node ropes and limiting space on the board. I assume that the game went through a major overhaul of its difficulty curve 📊 , where the extra hard challenges were integrated into the main level saga, which has hard and very hard levels around every 5-8 level. You can check the previous builds we show here, how different and more complex are the levels on the main saga, as there is no challenge mode anymore in the game. Also the challenges were move based before as everything is purely time ⏲ based now, as the level fail state. On top of this, the game added the "trigger events", which we see currently all over the place in casual games from Monopoly GO to Block Jam 3D. These events are automatically triggered during player session and they usually put the player into a small group of 4-5 players 👨👩👧👦 (probably bots) that are competing against each other, based on their main game progression during a short period of time. So it only reinforces the main core gameplay, with some additional rewards and time pressure ⏳. Very easy to do, templatize and put on rotation.
