𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜-𝗣𝗶 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗖 𝟭𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 The I-Pi SMARC 1200 development kit is a computer about the size of a human palm. All the features shown in the previous image post are demonstrated in the video below. The carrier of the LEC-MTK-i1200 computer-on-module is a fully equipped edge-computer. As a hardware design engineer, I am most intrigued by its universal ports. The USBs, Ethernet, and HDMI allow me to connect a standard PC keyboard, mouse, and screen. Two M.2 PCI Express ports enable the connection of communication boards and other high-speed devices. The development kit is secured with six screws onto the plastic frame, giving it the ruggedness typical of robust edge devices. The variant with the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C can quickly validate your project in real-world conditions. The fast and simple hardware deployment is a clear advantage. An auxiliary cooling fan can be plugged into the dedicated fused 5V output connector near the computer-on-module. The RaspberryPi-compatible pin header and LVDS connectors provide access to gadgets, extension boards, and other peripherals. This is where I plan to experiment. The GPIOs are divided into two groups. The first group is controlled through the I2C port expander, while the second group is connected via a level shifter to the computer-on-module. I will take a closer look at all of them in one of the upcoming episodes.
