Do you want to end poverty Give sight Vision loss is more than a health issue; it's a barrier to economic empowerment and dignity. Research by Bastawrous et al. (2012) reveals the vicious cycle where impaired vision traps individuals in poverty. However, interventions like sight-restoring surgery can break this cycle, enabling individuals to work, support their families, and fulfill their aspirations. Studies by Frick and Rizzo (2014) and Salomone et al. (2016) emphasize how restoring sight not only enhances productivity but also fosters hope and self-reliance, paving the way for a brighter future. #VisionRestoration #EndPoverty #EconomicEmpowerment #eyecorps #visionisthemission

Hey AAO attendees If you are looking to improve your teaching skills The Ophthalmology Foundation symposium will teach medical educators about the latest artificial intelligence (AI)-driven tools and methodologies to enhance teaching effectiveness and clinical work. Starting with definitions, basic concepts, and the current evolution of these tools, the panelists will also discuss the use of AI in solving clinical cases, enhancing presentations and courses, giving feedback, and writing multiple-choice questions and scenarios. A didactic session will share research findings on the reactions of Millennials and Gen Z with and without digital devices and the impact of in-class device use on learning outcomes. The symposium will provide medical educators with an overview of the pros and cons of allowing digital devices in classrooms, including ethical considerations. It will present different strategies for incorporating technology to support learning objectives while ensuring it does not become a distraction, including a description and onsite demonstration of how panelists use some of these strategies. CEO EyeCorps Inc. 501 (c)(3). Working to end blindness Board Chair ASCRS Foundation Board Ophthalmology Foundation Associate Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine.
I am proud to announce that Dr. Nelson Swai has completed Eye Corps training in SICS surgery. He has spent the past 3 years working with eye corps in the wet lab as well as 8 weeks working in rural Tanzania working side by side with our mentor surgeons. During our latest outreach in Lindi 2024 he spent 3 weeks learning from our expert team. And now it is time for him to join the faculty at MUHAS. We are proud of the past 3 years and this partnership is moving into a new phase. We are now working with Nelson as on of the 3 newest faculty members of MUHAS to develop their teaching skills and continue to support the surgical training. Eye Corps is changing surgical training in Tanzania. Just look at Dr. Nelson!
