Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to join the World Food Forum, Youth Assembly online consultation on Youth Participation in Food Systems Transformation, in preparation for UNFSS+4 for Africa. Engaging with fellow young leaders who are shaping the future of sustainable food systems was truly inspiring. During the session, we explored effective #financial mechanisms and funding models to support youth-led agribusinesses and enterprises across Africa. We also discussed the importance of creating an #environment where young people feel heard, ensuring that policies are youth-friendly and foster innovation in the #agricultural sector. As a youth-led agritech company, MazaoHub is actively contributing to these efforts by empowering smallholder farmers, particularly #women and #youth. Through affordable agronomic support, through #data-driven decision-making tools, we are helping farmers increase #productivity, improve soil #health, and build sustainable farming businesses. The insights gathered from this consultation will contribute to ongoing #global discussions on youth engagement in food systems. Meet Athumani Mbogo, a dedicated rice farmer from Ifakara. Through MazaoHub’s Farmer Excellence Center, he accessed high-#quality Salfive seeds and was registered in our system to receive expert agronomy support. However, he admits he didn’t fully follow the recommended farming practices. At harvest time, Athumani reaped 15 sacks of rice—only to realize his neighbor, also supported by MazaoHub, harvested 20 sacks from the same land size. Had the privilege to attend a two-day meeting at MazaoHub, where we explored new knowledge in AgriTech and integrated farming systems. We gained valuable insights into the MazaoHub ERP, designed to connect farmers with all essential agricultural services from cultivation to market access. We also learned about soil health, soil testing, and better agricultural schemes from our leaders at MazaoHub, Geophrey Tenganamba, Josephat Adelard, Alexandra Ngaiza, as well as best agronomy practices from the Chief Agronomist. A heartfelt thank you to Hon. Amos Nyanda for an enlightening session on sales and marketing. Special appreciation also goes to my senior software engineers Fatuma Chitu and Rajabu Pazi for their invaluable mentorship and technical insights, which continue to shape my growth.
