As we celebrate this World Food Day, we must remember that food is the third most basic need of a human being after air and water. Food is not merely agricultural produce but its diversity, nutritious value, affordability, accessibility, and safety. Mindset transformation toward individual and collective responsibility and accountability is needed to ensure the current and future generations have the will and means within proper and stronger food systems to ensure that households are food secure. As part of spearheading the implementation of the second National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan (NMNAP II), the Prime Minister’s office and the Tanzania Food and Nutrition have continued to organize the annual Joint Multisectoral Nutrition Review (JMNR) meetings where for this year, the meeting is taking place in Mwanza, at Malaika Beach Resort. Different stakeholders from the government, private sector, donors and partners share their experiences in addressing malnutrition and recognize the contribution of other stakeholders in the fight against all forms of malnutrition in Tanzania. On day one of the two-day meeting, the retired Prime Minister, Hon Mizengo Peter Pinda, and Hon Anthony Mtaka, the Regional Commissioner for Njombe, were present. COUNSENUTH is one of the participants of the meeting. Stay tuned as we continue to share the JMNR updates
