These are community-led initiatives with passionate local changemakers behind them, but they lack just one thing—resources. 🚰 A school in Msimba desperately needs a water tank so students don’t have to walk miles each day for water. 🐷 A women’s group is ready to launch a piggery, but they need proper sties to get started. 🏠 A girls’ hostel needs equipment so students have a safe place to stay and study. 🧵 Young mothers want to train in sewing, so they can earn an income for their families. 🏗️ A brick production plant could create local jobs and provide much-needed construction materials. At just 16, Joyce's dream of becoming a lawyer was shattered when she experienced sexual assault. In her rural village, stigma, harassment, and mistreatment followed her after becoming a young mother. But Joyce refused to give up. When Tumaini visited her village with a life-changing message, Joyce seized the opportunity. Today, she’s successfully completed secondary school and began her diploma in law this year. Joyce revealed the fact that “Most teenage mothers are not sexually immoral as it’s often claimed. Rather, they are victims of sexual and gender-based violence. Through Tumaini, Joyce not only continued her education but also became an advocate, encouraging communities to support young mothers to continue their education. We are excited to share that the construction of three additional classrooms has greatly enhanced the ability to provide a supportive and effective learning environment for teenage mothers in Tanzania. With these new spaces, our students now have room to fully engage in academics, vocational training, and counselling. For example, the computer lab now has its own space, allowing students to learn vital digital skills without distractions.
